My laptop arrived after repairs, finally. Everything works fine.
The price cut I got by buying a refurbished unit was worth it, even though I had to send the product for servicing as soon as it arrived. Shipping and servicing were both free, and Compaq customer support was excellent. I spoke to a "Nancy" with American accent, who turned out to be "Shilpa", talking from a Bangalore call-center.
Looking forward to some good music now, and connectivity from home. :)
