DH & Merlin

If there were two episode that were the polar opposites this week it was Dollhouse's "Belonging" and Merlin's "Beauty and Beast" (and okay, Glee's "Mash Up", but I already squeed about that. At length.)

Dollhouse

Well... I don't know. It was a very, very good episode, but the material made me all twitchy.

As much as I love Sierra, who is only second to Claire in my book, I just hated everything that was done to her and therefore couldn't really enjoy the episode. I know, I know, it's supposed to be difficult episode, but omg how much did I want to pluck her out of that situation and kick Nolan's ass? The answer is A LOT. SO FUCKING MUCH.

Sierra/Priya owned the episode and Dichen Lachman acted the hell out of it. She was wonderful and played every nuance of Sierra/Priya's journey so well. And can I just say I love Priya? She was so awesome, all artsy and then kicking ass.

The Victor/Sierra bits were adorable and they are so OTP material. I love that their connection extends to when she was Priya, and then after Sierra's wiped and she remembers him? AWW! Enver Gjokaj as the art dealer was *hearts* And how Victor waited for her in the exact same spot? They're just so cute together. Plus handholding and snuggle time in the pods. (Clearly Boyd and Topher are watching the feeds and giving them a break due to all the fucked up shit that went on before.)

Boyd = awesome. Also, scary as hell when in badass mode. The whole scene in the bathroom just creeped me out (in a good way!) because for once you see that there's more to this man than kickass ex-cop. His voice changing when calling Goose, or whoever it was, was a nice touch and very undercover agent.

Topher kinda broke my heart a little with his "I was trying to help her." but everything just went so wrong in the end. Again, the scene when Boyd hands him the saw and basically says "get to work, we have to clean up your mess even if you did try to do the right thing" was pretty harsh, but again, so well acted.

I liked that as soon as everyone understood that details of how Priya was "chosen" -- kidnapped and made to appear crazy so that she could be raped and used by a selfish prick -- to go into the Dollhouse, they stepped up, BUT man, do they have skewed way of looking at things. So it's okay to prostitute a person's body and mess with their mind, but ONLY if they sign a contract? Because it's a "choice" then? UM, NO. In that respect everyone bugged the shit out me.

Surprisingly, I didn't feel as sympathetic to Adelle as I normally do. She's definitely a woman with many complexities. She truly was disgusted and angered at that situation, but when she realised that she can't change it for the better, she breaks a little. We're so used to seeing her so together that seeing her lose her footing a little was kinda tough to watch. Her little talk with Topher was so bitter, perfect, and resigned. Her smirk during Boyd's phone was so HBIC, she knew without knowing what had occurred and definitely looked satisfied with the outcome.

In the end, the episode left me with a warm happy feeling, mostly due to the cuteness of Victor and Sierra, but it was a tough watch.

Merlin

OMG, did it bring the LULZ tonight! The faces that Morgana and Arthur pulled during dinner, hell, during most of the episode were so bloody fantastic. Arthur clearly is not okay seeing his father date, like at all.

Also, shirtless Arthur! With Merlin in the room! The slash, it writes itself! And then the speech, oh Arthur! *pets* No, Merlin, we do not spy on the ladies. *shakes finger*

When Sarah Parish tossed the picnic plate into the lake was best scene ever! Her face was just perfection.

Seeing Uther completely besotted was in parts hilarious and odd as hell to watch, because I'm so used to seeing him all scowly. "I bring you light and *love*" -- LOL. I could practically see the hearts in his eyes.

Merlin using magic in public was pretty cool, even if it didn't end up working at all. And then he got beat the fuck up, but hey magic based fight!

There wasn't much Morgana and Gwen in the ep, but I loved the faces they pulled during the wedding announcement, and Morgana's dresses were just so PRETTY. She practically glowed in the white one.

In the end Uther got hitched and next week it all goes to hell.

Haven't watched FF yet, bc I forgot to acquire it and there was no Fringe this week. WOE.

tv: dollhouse, tv: merlin, reax, oh show!
