TV is slowly coming back, well, the fall seasons. Sadly, two out three of my favourite shows won't air until January (Chuck and LOST) and the third just won't air. *mourns SCC* But even so there's still a nice amount of things to keep my schedule busy.
Glee, for one, which began airing last night and I "acquired" it this morning. And I have to say OMG. THIS SHOW. It's so happy-making! The music, the comedy, the ONE LINERS OF WIN, the characters! I love these characters, they're just so quirky, awkward, but so damn likeable and sometimes just downright adorable or awesome.
Mercedes belting out "Gold Digger" and Mr. S rapping was just a fantastic moment. "Push It" was downright hilarious and even though I was cringing during some parts of it because it really was a um, risqué performance, it was also so perfect because it highlight the underlying fact of what Rachel had been saying before. Not to mention, Kurt slapped Finn's ass and I would be a liar if I didn't say I didn't crack up during that. Then Rachel's song at the end highlighted perfectly her emotion with the whole Finn/Quinn situation, which was a nice touch, because Rachel is so abrasive that it can be hard to identify/sympathise with her, but Lea Michele gives these tiny character moments that just make you want to hug the girl. That and people keep throwing slushies at her face, which is just UNCOOL. (I have no doubt that the reason Rachel carries that pink suitcase around school is because she knows she's going to need a change of clothes.
Now Rachel/Finn: I'm surprised that they put a kiss out there already, but in context it makes sense. Rachel likes Finn, and she's the type of girl that goes and gets what she likes. Finn on the other is intrigued by and attracted to Rachel, imho, but also dating another girl, which I'm sure he also likes and he making stupid teenage boy decisions like kissing and flirting with one and not knowing wanting to break up with his girlfriend. Honestly, if the show didn't do a good job at making Finn likeable and sympathetic, because he really is a totally hormonally driven boy, I would probably not ship him and Rachel like I do. At the end of the episode though, I was completely on Rachel's side more than Finn's though. When she covered her face in the auditorium after he left--*hugs her*!
Will/Emma: the scene in the classroom with the chalk was so freaking UST laden that now I'm really shipping them. Before I wasn't too convinced with them because they were clearly playing it up that as viewers we *should* ship them a little too heavily for me. The pilot had some good, cute moments between them, but I wasn't convince about them until the chalk scene.
Sue Sylvester: SO EVIL AND FABULOUS. All her one lines were so freaking perfect I couldn't even keep it together. I loooove her and her evil ways.
The beginning with the Mercedes and Kurt arguing over her outfit was greatness and then the face Kurt's makes when she begins singing "Gold Digger". *G* Seriously, anyone who hadn't seen the preview clips probably had the same face on because after LM's, AR has the strongest vocals we've seen yet. These two need a duet. Speaking of other vocals we've seen, I like how Finn has a good voice, but not a great voice and that the show doesn't pretend otherwise. Artie and Tina didn't have much given to them in the episode beside in the first two musical numbers, which I hope they do soon, because really they're the ones who have been in the background the most so far. And yeah, okay, part of me ships them. WHAT?
Anything else with this show?.... Um, I don't think so. Yet. :D
Now, Leverage.
It was obvious the girl was going to be the long-lost daughter of Kimball, but the Jeri Ryan twist almost caught me by surprise except from the beginning I really didn't think they'd have her as an one episode character. Not that I would have minded if they had, because I miss Sophie and want her back. Right now. (NATE, COMMUNICATE. You went all the way to London and it wasn't to give her a plane ticket! *pulls at hair* They're so stupid for each other it hurts me to see the Atlantic separate them.) Still, the twist at the end was so-so, mostly because she did have good chemistry and I do like JR's work, but wrong fifth member!! Sophie, come back! I did love how Parker immediately was like "don't call me adorable" and Alec and Eliot basically told JR's character to back up with the touching. (I wasn't a fan of the Leather Pants and Boots of Criminality they gave her character though.)
The job itself was okay. It was obvious where it was going from the beginning, but I still wanted to see them through to the end, because it's the characters I watch this show for. They're such a
little family that sit on the couch and spy on Nate in London. Parker and Hardison saying yes to "Where's Waldo (Ford)" was adorable and I can just imagine them and Eliot hanging out, searching the CCTV cameras for Nate for points. *squishes them* Hardison's Vikki Vale ref made me all kinds of happy, because I love a good Batman ref anywhere. Parker them pointing out he was rehearsing what he was going to say to Sophie was perfect, because it just shows just how well these people have gotten to know each other and they make fun and poke fun at one another and it's just how they are. *hearts team*
I do think that this season they've upped the "What Can Go Wrong On The Job" a little too much, but most of the time it works like last week with Hardison overselling the part. (LOVED last weeks episode, btw. Parker and Hardison need to play the couple on jobs more often says my P/H shipper. Parker's dresses were also insanely gorgeous on her.)
