When Jess, Clarice, and I got back to the apartment yesterday, I went to turn on my computer and nothing happened. All you could hear was the click of the power button, but no powerup, no blue LED lights and hum of CPU and case fans. My computer lay on the desk, dead. I wanted to revive it. I unplugged the power supply, and zoomed to The Source AKA Radio Shack to look for a power supply. Alas, the salesperson claimed that they had shipped out their current stock to get it rebranded. Sh'nannigans! My next best bet was to check Zellers. Nothing. I went back to The Source and Zellers to look for compressed air-stuff to shoot into my computer to dust everything. No dice.
Luckily, The Sony Store had a couple of bottles of it (?!?, I'm surprised too). I rushed back to the apartment and took apart the power supply case, CPU fan and heatsink and let the dustbunnies have it!
I plugged everything back in and powered on. It freaking turned on! Then I had to log in and stuff, and when I tried to do that, the computer restarted. I smelled burning/melting plastic (a very distinctive smell I learned about by burning plastic bags at the Potters' in Jasper). The End.
Today after breakfast, Clarice and I went to Future Shop and I bought a freaking power supply for $91.99. Went back to the apartment and tried it. Same result as yesterday, except MORE burning smell. I took a big whiff inside of my computer case and it smelled like it was coming from my CPU... Tomorrow I'm gonna put everything back together hopefully and check my computer's internal temperature via the BIOS... If it's rambunctiously high, I might have to replace my processor... Hopefully that's the problem and it's not like the motherboard or anything >.> Sorry for the rushed post, it's warm in the apartment (I made cream of broccoli soup, too!) and when I'm warm I don't think straight.
