I was doing my Physics homework when I came across this problem:
"In a science fiction novel, two enemies, Bonzo and Ender, are fighting in outer space. From stationary positions, they push against each other. Bonzo flies off with a velocity of +1.5 m/s, while Ender recoils with a velocity of -2.5m (a)Without doing any calculations, decide which person has the greater mass. Give your reasoning . (b)Determine the ratio of the masses (mBonzo/mEnder) of these two people."
Dude. My physics book just referenced Ender's Game. This is easily the coolest thing that has ever happened while doing physics homework. Ever.
Although, now I'm back to dreading how horrible the movie version is going to be. Wolfgang Petersen(Troy, The Perfect Storm) is slated to direct. If that weren't enough, it's going to be populated by annoying child actors. On the other hand, if the movie flops, then maybe I can pick up the rights to do the Speaker for the Dead movie for cheap...
In other news, I saw the Vagina Monologues for the first time last week. It was clever and funny, but I don't think it was as meaningful as they tried to make it. It certainly had a point that sexual freedom is necessary for political freedom, but I don't think switching back and forth between friviolous sex talk and melodramatic tellings of domestic abuse tales is the best way to convey that.
This week, I went to the stage version of Kurosawa's Rashomon with my friend Sasha........mon. Anyways, it couldn't top the film, of course, but it had enough about it that was different (and awesome) to make it required viewing.
Less than one week 'til spring break!
