Most people in the US don't understand the concept of foraging. Here, anything that is wild is poisonous. This was especially obvious from doing the kids nature hikes in the summers for the campground; parents and kids were scared to even smell things.
This summer I would like to forage more for plants- Chris can do the mushrooming. It's funny that he can identify fungi so well, yet cannot discern a raven from a crow.

I miss these smells: Ponderosa pine, gumweed, juniper, wax current.

At lower elevations, everything smells like a hamburger.
