I do read my friends list every day. Srsly

As I just posted as a comment on a friend's entry, things have been hard for us this year (damn you, economy and Dubya for fucking shit up so royally) and the urge to write withered away with any disposable income. Things are on the upswing now and so, I post.

I'm just going to do bullet points because if I go into depth, we will be here all day. :)

* Surprise number one - My Nana Charlotte made it here. I was expecting my aunt and godmother, plus my godmother's husband & son. Only the aunt & godmother came because...

* Surprises two and three - my sister Tina and my niece Cassie also made it here. Cassie is SO tall and just the most precious girl ever. My mother was supposed to come out as well but was too sick to fly.

* The family got out here on Friday evening. We had a nice dinner @ McMenamins and the ones who had not met Kurtis before got to meet him. They all adore him and my Nana has a crush on him. BACK OFF OLD LADY!

* They all came back to the apartment and met the pups. Cassie & Pancho fell in love with each other, while Saffy jovially tolerated being petted.

* Saturday was Adventures in Oregon Day. We had planned a Seaside trip, which worked perfectly since there were things for Cassie to do. We hit Seaside for lunch, then took the family downtown. Everyone loved Seaside's strip. I think my aunt bought ten pounds of taffy.

* We also walked on the beach - my Nana walked up to the tide line before deciding that she didn't want to get her shoes wet. Cassie took Pancho and ran all over the beach. At first, he was hesitant but then just took off.

* Next stop was shopping my aunt/godmother/Nana, who rented a pedal cart and tooled around the strip, while me, Kurtis, Tina and Cassie went to the aquarium. Cassie got to touch a starfish and an anemone, see a giant octopus up close (it followed her around the tank, surfacing to look at her closer) and feed harbor seals. Cassie did not want to leave there. :)

* We then followed the coast to drive them past Cannon Beach, then up to Neahkahnie Mountain to show them where we scattered part of Kent's ashes and the view of Nehalem and Manzanita.

* The one down note? We got to the Tillamook factory about two minutes after it closed.Boo-urns. No free cheese or awesome ice cream for us. *sadface*

* THE BIG DAY. Wow. I was a little nervous at first but more in a 'let's do this' way. We had a lot of guests/witnesses @ Voodoo. People taking pictures with us, pictures of the ceremony. My family had bought the flowers - pink roses for me, a white rose for Kurtis, a corsage for Nana and rose petals for Cassie to scatter. Cassie made the best flower girl ever. I have signatures in my guest book from everyone there, plus the owners gave us a wedding present of a free baker's dozen of doughnuts once a month for a year.

* The ceremony was perfect. Quick but not rushed and full of love and fun. We got married to Nick Cave's Into My Arms. I just looked into Kurtis' blue eyes, said 'I do" at my cue and then kissed my husband.

* I had the wedding weekend that I wanted plus more.
