He thinks he takes them to escape. To run away from cold walls and iron bars. Because he doesn’t have a choice. Because he’s too far gone now.
But he’s not hiding from anything, he trying to find something. Stuck in his mind between a stolen ice cream sandwich and a new haircut, he begins to ache for real life again. Just when he thought he’d outrun childish things.
You’re a man of the streets now. Act like it. Shoulders back, eyes forward.
Toby reminds him of those little things he didn’t realize he missed until he was ordered to live without. And he wants them all back.
The drugs didn’t ruin him. Toby did.
