MOTIVATION
“I wanna watch SpongeBob!”
“No.”
“Grandma lets us watch it.”
He remembered the last time he watched a cartoon.
“Hey, hey, hey. It’s Fat Albert.”
“Turn that off,” his father said from the doorway.
“No,” he said, turning back to the television.
He didn’t hear what his father said in response to that.
He did hear his mother’s screams and the crunch of a Louisville Slugger going through the television screen.
He’d never watched another cartoon since.
He glanced over at the boy who was reaching for the remote, and knew exactly what was going in that package to Beecher.
