There was only so much money could do for a man. Help buy drugs, help sell drugs, help do drugs, and the pattern just continued until you were nothing but a piece of shit to your great white race, but that still didn’t seem to stop your old man from loving you. It certainly didn’t stop one of his convict friends from finding you and giving you enough money to stock up until the baby came and you would be able to make a family for yourself. Yeah, Hank Schillinger may have been a piece of shit all his life, but he wasn’t a murderer and there was no way in hell he was going to allow himself to turn out like Andy. So when his father gave that final dollar amount, that final price on his soul and Hank considered how he’d be a father some day with a son of his own, it didn’t take much for him to walk away.
