HT100 Challenge #94: Mirror Image

Mar 15, 2006 11:54

Tobias Beecher comes in 129 words...

He was sitting on his bunk, looking at the picture for God knows how long. Could have been hours, days, maybe even weeks. Time didn't pass anymore. It was cut off along with a small plastic watch on his baby's wrist.

He ran his index finger over the picture. A spitting image of himself.

He could almost feel the soft golden hair under his fingertips. The smooth skin of his forehead never to be adorned with wrinkles. The gentle surface of his cheek never to grow its first beard.

Lips never to feel a tremble of the first kiss.

And the eyes… He saw himself in there, saw the man he used to be.

He put his head in his hands and found he still had some tears left.
