Okay, so this is actually yesterday's word of the day. Sorry about that; it takes me a while to finish one of these! *g*
Better Judgement
Before Gen, he’d always had a proclivity for falling for the wrong people. He reminds himself of that as he watches Keller’s hand hesitate over the chessboard; he’d been wondering again what it would be like if that hand were touching him. Reasons for resistance are getting scarce, and he needs to remember what it means to make bad choices.
“Checkmate,” Keller says, with a grin Beecher feels in the pit of his stomach.
That feeling, like losing your balance at a cliff’s edge... he shouldn’t be seeking it out. Still, he smiles back and says “How about a rematch?”
