Bon Jour!

Hello to all of my english speaking friends...from the MontMarte district of France.

My typing skills are currently being challenged by a keyboard en françois, which means that few of the letters are where I expect them to be. Bear with me if there are any misspellings.

To my left is the lovely Maggie, wet like a chat, from the rain we have walked through to reach this cybercafe.

The two of us are staying right across from the birthplace of Eric Satie, around the corner from the "Agile Rabbit" cafe (pardon the anglàis), where Pablo Picasso sold sketches and sang drunken songs with his pals nearly a hundred years ago.Ameliè fans are likely familiar with our neighborhood as hers, which I am told has brought many more tourists to the area.

Our first two nights here we stayed with my old friend Don, who now resides here following his flight from Los Angeles some years back. He is about ten minutes away from our flat. Don is my old bandmate from those devices days.

Maggie and I have visited the Eiffel Tower on the day with the most perfect weather imaginable;;;we spent all day there! We also visited the Louvre where we saw Carravaggio and Leonardo da Vinci (of course the Mona Lisa and the Madonna of the Rocks, which rocks!), as well as lots of pre-roman Etruscan sculptures. From there we strolled the Jardin de Tuilleries past the Theatre Guignol (I hope to go back) all the way to the Arc de Triomphe. I have discovered that you can climb the spiral staircase to the top for a magnificent view.

Yeserday was rainy so w spent most of the afternoon at the Georges Pompideau museum. Currently they have an amazingly comprehensive exhibit of Jean Cocteau... his drawings, writings, letters, photographs, portraits of him by an incredible cross section of early twentieth century artistes de modernes, and of course his films. I smiled and thought of zeppo, who turned me onto the Beauty and the Beast years ago. The exhibit included pre-production art, photos of make-up applique from la Belle et la whatever the word for beast is (ha!ha!) and some gorgeous poster art. Wow!

Also at the Pompideau we looked at contemporary art from 1960 to the present (Vito Acconcci rocks!), which on the whole I found a depressing reminder of why I decided to not make "art" anymore in favor of comics and the like. We did not get enough time at the 1906-1960 section. I could have looked at the Rene Magritte all day. Alas if I can return then I will. We had a dinner appointment with Sue, Don, and my old friend Marie-Laurre and her boyfriend. We ate at a tiny little hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant which was excellent.

The hour is nearly up, so I'm off. I'll try to check back later my dear ones. Au Revoir!
