I've decided it's time for me to expand my brain a bit. I'm getting a library card. It's been forever since I've been to a library, I'm sure I'll be a bit overwhelemed. So I have this question
( Read more... )
I've liked or enjoyed for the most part every book I've read so far this year, which is few because I've been incredibly busy for some reason. Anyways, a backdated post at the top of my LJ lists them if you're interested, but Random Family: Love, Drugs, Trouble, and Coming of Age in the Bronx by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc is honestly the best book I have EVER read.
These are kid books, but they were books I loved as a kid and keep meaning to get my hands on again because they were really good.
The Castle in the Attic The Battle for the Castle Both are by Elizabeth Winthrop
If you don't mind fantasy, Elvenbane/Elvenblood/Elvenborn are really good too. They're by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey.
Another one I found engaging was The Rice Mother by Rani Manicka. It's about a girl born in 1916 in Ceylon (Malaysia, I think) and follows through the generations born from her.
i like anything by >tom robbins or >chuck p. ( i can never spell his last name right- guy who wrote fight club) but chuck is more on the gory side of things usually.
>memoirs of a geshia
> anything by david sedaris
>carmello ( i cant remember who wrote that)
so many good books... but lemme know what you like in general and can make better recomendations ie: history, fantasy, etc etc
well, i can't make it through chuck p books. there's something about his writing I just can'6t handle. i love love loved memoirs of a geshia, but can't handle david sedaris. his writing style just doesn't hold my attention.
the problem is I'm not entirely sure what I like in general. It's been so long since I've tried to sit down and read anything.
