The Heat Can Melt Your Brain
The weather has got me all upside down. It was so so warm all day yesterday. I left the big fan in the living room with Alina and Dianna cause it gets really warm in there and they spend more time in the apartment than I do. I have a little fan I kept in my room that I thought would work, but man was I wrong. When I woke up this morning, my room was roughly the same temperature it was at 8pm last night. I had the most restless sleep of tossing and turning and adjusting and just generally being miserable. Whenever people here complain about the heat, I've always been one of the first to be like "pfft, this is nothing" but yesterday my Southern California breeding completely failed me. But then, I also remembered part of my breeding was wearing shorts. A lot. Which I haven't done since.. oh, I lived there. (I just had the astonishing realization that it's been nearly 10 years since I lived there. How odd!)So, in order to combat todays heat, I am wearing a skirt. Yes, you can actually see (some of) my legs.The whole skirt wearing process involved an awkard realization that I really need to shave my legs and had about five minutes to do it. I usually wear pants so much that it doesn't really matter how often I shave em.
We'll see how long it lasts, though. I really don't even mind that I am working today, since the office has AC and Minty does not.
Because of this weather, I am totally totally dreading the Long Winters show tonight. Don't get me wrong, I love the band. A ton. I just don't want to be in Neumo's with a ton of people. It will be a nice giant oven.
