Laurel is still just a little under 10 years old, and has been poking about the Mansion, exploring the nooks and crannies.  She's a very curious, if subdued young woman, and she's learned that young ladies can get a great many places by being quiet and unobtrusive ( Read more... )

Agravain is a little horrified to realise that he recognises his wife, and a split-second after he says "Laurel?" he also realises that he has no clue what to say to a child version of her or in fact how to interact with children at all. Shit.

He leads the way to their room, rather than the kitchen--blame habit--and starts fishing dried fruit and meat out of the wall cabinet where he keeps it. Agravain does not really like the Mansion kitchen, as it happens.

Regardless, she looks around at the room curiously. While he's in the cabinet, she notes a book on the small table by the window. "My papa has a book like this," she says, a little surprised.
