For Orkney cottage residents or visitors

Laurel has made her way home from the Mansion, and is slicing up some carrots for stew. Her hands, however, are obstinately shaking, and eventually she slices her thumb rather deeply. She swears under her breath in a fashion much more Agravain than Laurel in nature, shaking a little harder, face pale.

All is clearly not well.

If Laurel looks outside her window, at one point during the afternoon, she might come across the sight of a familiar figure.

Niko has been restless, and instead of his usual katas on the open grounds, he went for a long hike, which eventually took him to the cottage. He's not cold persay, and he may not knock on the door (what terrible manners) but he certainly will say hello once he knows who lives there.

When she sees him, she will raise a hand in weary but genuine greeting, then moves to the door. "Would you come in, sir? It is more than passing cold."

He crosses the distance fast enough, waving back and smiling at her, before he bows in his usual dojo style. "My Lady Laurel! What a surprise. I did not suspect that you lived here."

"I had no idea that your kin was living here," he says with a cautious small smile. "Pardon my intrusion, My Lady."

"Not at all. Most everyone is out. Please, do come in and get warm." She's calmer, for having a stranger to entertain.

He gives her a bit of a grin. "Well then, if you insist..." He'll get in, and though he won't say it, he'll be indeed grateful for the warmth.

"Sit, if you like. I'm just making some stew."

"Do you need help?" He offers, without ceremony.

"Not at present, thank you. But I could use the company, if you don't mind staying a bit."

"Not at all, it's a pleasure, really, to see you again." He settles comfortably. "How have you been?"

She sighs. "As ever, more or less. And you?"

"I could pretty much say the same," he replies tiredly. "It's been worse, I guess."

"Well, that is at least something."

"Well, everything is something. But you're right." He leans back, and sighs.
