Why Michael will never be asked to speak for the Atlantic City Tourism Board.
The tourists - the drinking, the carousing, up at all hours of the night, cause of most of my sleep loss, stinking tourists. The ones who can’t hold their liquor and I can hear them vomiting in the alleyway. Of course, that competes with the yelling from the local bums. Now these people are in their prime hours because they sleep during the day, due to having to stay low key. All because of ordinances that are in place, so as not to upset the pristine upscale view that Atlantic City tourist board loves to promote. Them, I can handle. It’s a steady noise that one gets used to eventually - but man, the tourists!
Each one is brand spanking new in their effort to rabble rouse and cause trouble. It just goes on at all hours of the night, morning, and the afternoon - it just never stops. Now, I know it is an uncharitable thought and I should be inured to their comings and goings. But you try working two jobs at any given time, training, and still try to catch your Z’s when a visiting horde of partygoers from the boardwalk, traipse down your street. All because they want the cheaper deals from the non-descript hotels that never get much mention in the promotions for the city.
…Hmmm, sorry if I sound cranky, but I have been up for at least two days. Calling in sick today. Will probably lose job number two (courier service) simply because Mr. and Mrs. So-and-so, from the Bronx, thought it was cute to consummate their second honeymoon in my alleyway.
In the end, these tourists keep me in various jobs throughout the year. I really shouldn’t complain. But you asked and I was brought up not to lie about things when it is easier to tell the truth when at all possible.
