While I have been away they have hired a slew of interns and additional managerial positions (which were needed desperately). There is a trend I have noted, to hireing female blondes between the ages of 21 and 26. Previously we were a company of roughly 90% males (programmers & designers). Now I fear my boss has swung too far the other way simply to balance out the ratio.
Most of the girls are quite bright and talented, and good assets to the company. However, one intern in particular irks me beyond constraints. I can see that she affects other people similarly, simply by the pained expressions, and rolled eyes whenever she speaks. Every question that falls out of her mouth is painfully stupid. In the last 30 minutes she has asked: Who makes Windows? is it Micosoft? What's a 'Content Enabler'? When you learn stuff does you head get bigger?"
She seems to do absolutely no work, and comes and goes on a regular basis, and when she is in office she's at other people's desks, never her's. I don't even know what she does to be honnest. The only work I have ever observed her do was try to get a set of malfunctioning VoIP handsets replaced. It took over and hour of her talking to a tek department, and the discussion clearly revealled had no idea what a VoIP phone was.
She speaks of not having enough money to get the new Prada purse she wants, then complains that she needs a bigger allowance from her daddy. I swear, I don't know anyone over the age seven who has an allowance -- much less a woman in her 20's.
Okay, I've taken enough time to vent about this subject. It's now time for *me* to return to work. : P
