Though not formally practicing as a lawyer anymore, I still like a bit of legal news. Here for your reading pleasure is a small taste of what is up in the legal field:
1. Best judicial quote of the day: Justice Brown, as part of his
reasons rejecting the two co-executors' patently self-serving arguments in the interpretation of their father's will. Thanks to Precedent Magazine for the tip:
"Were I to hold otherwise..., I have no doubt that [the deceased] would be waiting, with the ghosts of other dissatisfied testators, on the other bank of the river Styx, ready to give me an earful when I arrived. That is a confrontation I wish to avoid. "
2. The Toronto Star reports that Harlequin Enterprises is attempting to
patent the kiss as a publicity stunt. I'm trying to find the application, but I don't think it's been published yet. I'm dying to read it though!
