No way jose. The fact that it blended so seamlessly and sounded like one fourty minute song is what made Black Sails so great. That was when they were the most AFI-ish! Thats when the fans fell in love with them. Thats when they defined themselves. All Hallows EP, Black Sails, and Art of Drowning were the top three (sorry to all you old school fans who like answer that and stay fashionable and such)
Not this mediocre joke they produced a year and a half ago. Beleive me, I love sad music with drawn out vocals. My favorite band is Brigth Eyes for christ's sake. But Sing the Sorrow...thats not AFI.
That's why you don't like it? Because "they aren't doing teh afi thing anymore"? That's what people said about Sleeping with Ghosts. "this doesn't sound like them anymore!!" but that doesn't make it a bad cd. Don't know if you care too much for that analogy...
Anyway, the only album I stand to sound like one long track Ok Computer.
Why would you want AFI to sound the same on every album, or "AFI-ish" as you say? I thought Sing the Sorrow was a refreshing change from the Art of Drowning. I thought they had a change for the good, but this is an opinionated music community, eh? Heh.
Yes, see I agree with that. I just can't stand everything being the same-sounding. It gets boring and doesn't motivate me to listen to the rest of the CD.
Black Sails represent!

STS also had good lyrics but the songs were sad/angry/catchy/slow/whimsical. It's a lot better.
