It's been a long time, I shouldn't a left you, without a dope journal to step to.
"It's been so long! What will people say?!?!"- Jody
1. Mattress went over swimmingly. Jody has been doing the backstroke in an ocean of praises, and I've gotten recognition on occasion (which is cool for people to say something other than "Hey, you're Bat Boy!" Although that was kinda cool too, I must admit). I'm now involved in some straight plays, my first venture into this uncharted territory at Duke. I'm playing Chubukhov in The Marriage Proposal by Chekhov and the M.C. in David Ives' Speed-the-Play, which I'd wager some of you (Kelly Peterman) know about. I'm extremely excited, and those happen at the beginning of December. So if you're not in Jacksonville seeing Stanton's production of Urinetown where my brother is playing Robby the Stockfish (and you should go see that...my brother is in a musical playing a guy named Robby the Stockfish), then you should journey on up to Durham and see my little plays.
2. I go to Jody's for Thanksgiving, which will be exciting and also scary. The good news is they just bought a HUGE MOTOR HOME THAT I WILL GET TO LIVE IN. It has its own bathroom, kitchen, TV, everything. What more can I saaaaay? I'll get to chill with the Family Kyler, have some delicious Midwest-style grub (perhaps drink some "pop"), and get to smoke cigars and watch football with Mr. Kyler. Go Skins. I will miss my home crew, but it shall be a rollicking good time. Jodilocks and I are rolling on 10 months solid, so I'm quite pleased with everything relationship-wise. :)
3. I will be back at the JCA this summer! Kudos to any and all who are joining me, as I can't wait to see you mangy lot. Oscars...watch out. Mr. Russell is back in town.
4. I've only seen two movies in theaters. Wallace and Gromit was brilliant. No more, no less. Also, I saw Elizabethtown. I really enjoyed it...it's probably the most flawed of his movies, but he's such a great storyteller. The music is phenomenal, the stories about father-son relationships and road trips really touched me, and all of my road trip boys should see it not just cuz of an extended road trip section, but when they're in Kentucky, they drink ALE 8!!!!! Another movie I just saw and loved is Neil Labute's In the Company of Men. TOTALLY fucked up, but a really great movie. Look it up, gang.
5. I have lots of good pictures from parties and such. I'm very disappointed that I miss the boys at the Pearthree/Cohn Birthday Extravaganza, but I've been tryin to hold my own up here the best that I can. I'll post pics soon enough, or if you go to facebook, a fair amount are up there as well.
6. My schedule for the spring is as follows:
-- Voice and Speech
-- Shakespeare and the Theater
-- Advanced Acting: Contemporary Theater
-- Musical Theater: Performance Workshop
-- The 2 Gospels: Mark and John
a.k.a. my schedule is better than yours. Oh yeah, I have no Friday classes either. *huge shit-eating grin*
7. Lost is amazing. The Office is also amazing. Curb Your Enthusiasm is amazing. Those 3 shows are must-watch. I can't wait til January when 24 and The Shield come back on. Oh yeah, and Arrested Development got cancelled. Ha ha.
8. I had to watch Fight Club for a class. It still really sucks. And when watching The Apartment, my friends at Duke laughed, thinking it was corny. My friends also suck.
9. Fantasy Sports Update: My scrappy lil' fantasy football team is still jonesin' for a playoff spot. I'm hangin tough in my fantasy basketball leagues, though literally every league I'm in has the #1 team owning Marcus Camby. Once he gets injured (which he will), things'll flip around. Bwa ha ha.
10. My current likes- Cheerios and Rice Krispy Treats for breakfast, Sam Shepard's True West, Volvic water, memory foam, Ring of Fire, and the fact that my car is still hanging tough. My current dislikes- my cell phone (broken), my stereo (broken), my digital camera (shitty and outdated), and my bank account (not full enough).
I hope all of you are well, my babies. I'll try to update more often. And I'll post pics soon.
