(no subject)
I would've posted about this sooner, but I didn't want to jinx myself. We got the house!!!! It's exactly what we want so we're very excited. It's a two bedroom house with a wood burning stove and large garden, as well as private woodland right next to the garden! It's in Penicuik Estate so is in an amazing area of countryside. It is half an hour walk to Penicuik, but it's well worth it. This means we can finally grow veg and have chickens! I'm not sure about chickens yet because apparently there are loads of badgers (yay!!) around there who tend to kill chickens. There are also foxes which might be awkward too. I was speaking to one of our future neighbours who is awoken every morning by pheasants knocking on her window for food. There are also partridges and freaquently deer in the garden. This might be a problem for veg growing, but we can get nets for the veg. We will also have access to the private areas of the estate including a large pond.
I'm already getting excited about buying everything we need for the house. We can do what we want with it which is cool. We need to buy white goods and a few other bits of furniture. I think we'll be relying on freecycle and gumtree for most things, but I think Ikea might also be a good plan. I'm very excited about having our own garden, and there's already wild raspberry bushes around the edge as well as elder trees.

I am going to miss this house and the neighbours. I'll also miss being so close to the town centre, but it's worth it for the surroundings of our new house. Anyway, better go, Hazel is shouting at me.
