"What to do about my reading life? How can I make the most of the time I got left in this mean little world?"

I don't know what to advise you cause I can't call myself an expert in writing and in reading too. I can read anything if I'm interested in the mind of author. If I can get the interesting thoughts out of his book, if my imagination can be torn out of routine of my life even for some hours of pleasure.
But the way as you asking your question, it's maybe not about the reading at all? Before my last little travel, I can add that I didn't have one for a year, I was reading like mad at home and on work in attempt to fly away of reality, I was drinking and partying all my free time. But after the trip I discover with astonishment that I don't need no partying, no drinking and I don't need to read everything I can get through the Internet. What I am trying to say is maybe you should try to change something in your everyday routine, to drive to some new horizons?

Yes, you get to the heart of the matter: I need to go out and live life! I am not going to go into details, but I am too broken for that, so that I must get everything I can from books, as well as film. It's like I am locked in solitary confinement in my brain, and I have to make the most of that.
