ok, to finish the last entry, I had left my purse in the car and put in the bass, music, my makeup, and my jacket, and closed te trunk.  As the lid neared its final resting place, I think, "did I lock the doors?"  I had.  Out of habit.  And promptly put the keys in my jacket, for I had been wearing it.  Keys and jacket acket then in the locked car, I couldn't find a spare key because it was with my dad in San Francisco and he would not be able to get back before our gig/performance/planned embarrassment.  At the point of the last entry, I was worrying that I would be marked absent from 5th period and unable to safely participate in senior ditch day, which I desperately need for sleep and writing, and that I would let down Laura and Nick for lack of bass to play.

(

long story short, everything turns out ok.  read further if you care to hear details)  In the end, my mom takes me back to school and I've missed maybe 10 minutes of Hotel Rawanda (the only reason any student taking Ethics thought school was worth attending that day).  No absence.  I remembered AAA probably unlocked doors, and my dad confirmed this via telephone.  I couldn't find my mom after class, so Sam was so kind as to drive me to the salon.  I didn't know mom mom's cell number, and my cell phone was in the car...oh, and so was my check to pay for the mani/pedicure...so I talked to my family's hairstylist and she vouched for me, and I got my nails done.  I was then able to get ahold of Mom at her work and she said that AAA opened the door for me and she picked me up and such.  Turns out that Nick had locked himself out of his house, so I didn't have to hurry as much as I did, and when I called, his dad said he was sleeping in the car.  And Anne, our last minute tambourine-ist, got there pretty late to find out what she was doing.  So moral of the story is to be calm and think clearly, because everything tends to work itself out.

As for the gig/performance/planned embarrassment, I was not nearly as nervous as I thought I would be.  Most of the people there were into hip-hop, were playing basketball, or just weren't paying attention. We made mistakes, but I went with the flow, and I'm glad I now have the experience.  We played a cover of Dear Prudence and two of our own songs.  The Dub TownJam organizer (I guess) asked if we would be able to do any more Dublin events in the future, and Laura said the sound guy has a studio in his house and wanted our number.  My awkward flipped righty bass technique attracted some attention, too.  We went after a bunch of 12 year olds without a vocalist yet with extremely expensive equipment, incliding a bunch of Marshall amps.  We went before a band of twenty-something men that were pretty good.  We need a drummer.

Prom was fun.  The fireworks were nice, the food was really good, the weather and view were gorgeous.  TheMrs. Vallado took some really nice pictures beforehand.  The most enjoyable part of the pre-planned evening, thought, was a bunch of us jumping on Laura's trampoline in prom attire.  Tyler met us at Laura's house.  Apparently Tyler doesn't like having his picture taken, so I'll have to watch my back for the rest of my life.  I guess we're even; I stole his soul, he will take revenge on mine.  Anyways, Tyler, Nick, Brandon, and I drove back to San Francisco.  Tyler and Nick have turned our sunrise visits into special tours, complete with getting lost and wandering for two hours, feeding the sea lions, peeing into the ocean or secluded trash can or park (if you are a guy...or a skilled girl, I suppose), and eating at various cafes and bakeries on Russian Hill, the Castro, and in North Beach.  In the future we may even add China Town as an option, but it depends on how lost and frustrated the driver gets when two other guys are trying to give different directions.

My favorite time in San Francisco is late at night- when the first shops are opening in the morning.  It's so much nicer when most of the pedestrians and cars are gone.

Now I have to prepare for Mindy's birthday party.  We will meet at her house in an hour and go to a restaurant in San Francisco.  Visit one city three times in two days?  Yes.
