[He's been watching from a distance for a while, until just watching training becomes a bore for him. So he'll just casually step in and--]

Oya, pushing yourself to the limits, aren't you?

[Ys had had that prickling feeling on the back of his neck for a while, so it comes as no surprise when someone speaks from directly behind him. He doesn't startle or jump, but watches Freya, his sneasel, finish off a low level gastly several yards away.]

No one's ever here this early. It's quiet. [Looks up... and up from corner of his eye. EVERYONE HERE IS TALLER THAN HIM, w h y?] It's easier to concentrate.

[Hey, not everyone can be tall. Either way, he gives his shoulders a little shrug while paying little attention to Loki - his Misdreavus - who seems to be doing figure eights around his feet.]

That's not quite what I meant, but I could understand it well enough.

[It comes with having the body of a kid :c. Freya rejoins her trainer, paying the post attention to Loki. Was it a threat? It wasn't a threat, was it? It looked too playful to be a threat.]

Hm. [Ys turns to face him completely, not wanting a stranger at his back.] What did you mean?

Your eyes look tired. Perhaps you should be getting more sleep. [Though he says it, there's really no sense of urgency or concern in his voice - it's really only stated as fact. Loki, on the other hand is taking an interest in Freya, floating away from Izaya's ankles and nodding with a look of intrigue and excitement.]

action;

[Freya watches Loki as intently as Ys does the stranger, trying to puzzle out the other's thoughts. He doesn't think the suggestion comes from a concerned heart. Sensing his tension, Freya doesn't leave his side, despite the temptation to get closer and play with a probable friend.]

I'm not tired. [A lie.] I like it at night. [Double lie. Ys intends to stare him down until he leaves.]

[Loki doesn't seem all that concerned, continuing to make his way towards Freya - yep, he wants to play. Izaya, on the other hand, seems a little less playful, eyebrow arching. He's not buying it, just from expression alone. This is definitely holding his interest.]

Do you always lie about these things?

[harbringersoul]

[Freya follows Loki's every movement, limbs twitching; she wants to chance him. Ys just wants him to go away, wondering why this man is talking to him in the first place.]

It's the truth. [He doesn't have the patience to be cordial.]

[getshead]

Your face says otherwise... despite the sour expression, of course. [He lets out a bit of a cold chuckle. On the other hand, Loki's persistent, stopping dead in front of Freya and doing a playful dance.]

[Complete 'what are you an idiot?' expression.] There's nothing wrong with my face.

[And in the instance after that sentence, Freya jumps from his side in an attempt to grab Loki. Ys cringes aside with wide eyes, surprised by the sudden motion; Freya continues her persistent efforts to chase.]

Your exhaustion shows. It's really very worrisome.

[Not that he actually cares. His eyes dart to Loki and Freya; Loki is now dodging, as if it's a game tag - which makes Izaya chuckle.] It looks as if Loki's taken a liking to your Pokémon.

[Ys doesn't like him half as much as Freya likes Loki. The pokemon continue to dance around in a revolving game of chase, her claws just missing before she could tag Loki as 'it'.]

They're playing. [Said flatly, in near distaste. Ys is fine, he knows the stranger hardly cares, let them move on to more interesting topics if they must converse at all.]

[Izaya's taking note of every last bit of this encounter - including his tone and change of subject.] I can see that! It's remarkable, really. Not many others capture his interest so quickly.

[harbringersoul]

[It's been said through out the years and in many ways: 'like owner like pet', 'you are the company you keep'. There is truth in old words. This is how Ys knows:] You are the same.

Am I? [He chuckles at that. He's more than familiar with the phrases, but Loki is only about half as much like him as Namie was. Not that his case for himself with make him look any better, but he doesn't care.] Plenty of people hold my interest very easily. In fact, all of them do!

Why? [Ys isn't curious so much as unable to understand how he can state that so plainly. Humanity as a whole struggles from their first cry to their last, cycling through the world unable to make the most of their short time. Always changing, finding new ways to accomplish what they already knew how to do. What is fascinating about such an unstable mass... if you were one of them?]
