In the 1930s, Shanghai (or HK), powerful businessman Im Yong Soo sets out to reclaim his illegitimate son, (any name you want for HK), who was raised by Wang Yao, a retired cantonese/hokkien/any dialect opera singer. He arranges for him to marry a girl (Vietnam/any female Asian nation) so as to secure his business, given how unstable the country is with war about to break out. HK is reluctant as he is deeply in love with his childhood playmate, Taiwan. One day, they meet the son of a high ranking Japanese official, Kiku Honda, and the three of them become drawn into a complicated love triangle, with Kiku in love with HK and Taiwan in love with Kiku, doomed to fail with the threat of war looming in the horizon...
Sad ending preferred, and smut is not a must, but would be very much welcomed :D
