I like Big Bats

The Mariner's get it done tonight in one incredible inning in the bottom of the seventh against the Twins. They were down by a score of 6-1 going in, but soon the bases are loaded and Raul Ibanez hits a Grand Slam (and ties the team record for most HRs hit at Safeco Field).

Four runs later, Raul is again up to bat... the 13th batter of the inning... facing another bases loaded situation for potential second Grand Slam in the same inning! There's only been one time in baseball history that a player has hit two grand slams in the same inning.... so I definitely had my fingers crossed for it to happen again.

Instead, Raul lays down a single past the second baseman for two more RBI's (totaling six and beating the club record for RBIs in an inning). On the play Willie Bloomquist is tagged out at home, and the inning is over.

All told they score 10 runs in one inning (doubling the previous best inning this season), going from 5 down to 5 up. Crazy.

Of course, they're still in last place in their division... and the American League.
