So I went by my agent's office first, because Dustin and I needed insurance cards anyway, and filed a claim there. She said in an hour or two I could call the local claim center. So I went home and made our bills list out and had lunch and then called. They told me that my claim was being handled by the Central Claim Center, so I called them. I don't have full coverage (i.e. collision insurance), so it's actually the other driver's liability that will pay for the damages. We're both insured through State Farm, so this would be easy...right? Heh. So the Central Claim Center tells me that he hasn't filed a claim yet, and that I need to call HIS insurance agent to make a claim, and then gives me the number. Then he wishes me good luck, and I think, "Oh god, what does that mean--'Good luck'"? I wonder if it would have worked better if we had the same agent? So I call his agent, and make the claim, and then his agent tells me to wait 1-2 hours and then try the Central Claim Center, again. By which I hope that means an hour, I have to work soon.
Oh and for amusement’s sake? The guy’s name is Steven King.
Amended: I called the claim center again, and the guy tells me that when two State Farm insured vehicles are involved, they actually do treat it like two outside claims, so that his claim is being investigated by another team, and that they have two different claim numbers, so that I need to talk to his team, repeat my story, and then they'll call him to verify, and when all that is done, then I'm to the step where I can talk to them about repairs. Then he tried to transfer me, only Team 11 was busy, so he's leaving a message for them to call me back. Bleh, and bleh.
