Main Summary: Lee Sungmin is a trained hitman by the codename ‘MIN’. His only sole purpose is to kill his assignments regardless of their backgrounds. So why did, one fateful night, on the brink of death, he met Cho Kyuhyun? The one who taught him the meaning of life. But then why life, had to be so full of twisted humour?
“What were you thinking!?” Kangin exploded as he threw his coat angrily onto the floor, a sign that he was super pissed off. “I don’t remember teaching you to run blindly into the lion’s den?! Do you have a death wish or something?!?” He raked his short dark locks with his callous hand, obviously at a loss at Kyuhyun’s stupidity. “Aish!” Kangin paced to and fro in the control room, shooting occasional killer glares towards Kyuhyun who was too busy examining the finger marks, which was beginning to bruise, left by Sungmin’s assault earlier in a portable mirror he had placed on the table. Kangin marched towards Kyuhyun and with a quick swipe, he pushed the mirror away and it fell with a loud crash, the force splintered the sharp shards all over the spotless floor. “You could’ve gotten killed!”
“But I’m still here.” Kyuhyun replied, unrepentant, as he returned Kangin’s hot gaze without even flinching.
“Yea! Thanks to Heechul!” Kangin shouted as he pointed at Heechul who was leaning against the wall and sharpening his hunter’s knife like it was a normal thing to do every day. He gave no indication of having heard Kangin’s outburst as he inched closer and closer, like a predator stalking its delicious looking prey, to Hangeng who was busy typing away in his laptop, probably trying to crack another firewall. Kangin shook his head and diverted his attention back to Kyuhyun. “I just went out to get some coffee and you nearly gave me a heart attack when I came back and saw you being attacked!”
Heechul snorted. As if anything will be able to give Kangin a heart attack. He sneaked a glance to Kyuhyun as if telling him I-told-you-so with his eyes. Kyuhyun caught the message and showed him ‘the finger’.
“OI! Are you even listening to me?!” Kangin snapped, fuming. Kyuhyun quickly straightened up and nodded seriously. “And you!” He practically snarled as he pointed at Heechul. “You were supposed to watch over him!”
Heechul tossed his head. “Wasn’t my fault that loverboy here wouldn’t listen.” He sheathed his sharpened knife. “Ran out before I could stop him.” He said as he glared at Kyuhyun who stuck his tongue out like a little kid.
Kangin swung around to face Kyuhyun again who quickly pulled his tongue back in and bowed his head. If he didn’t act obedient, Kangin was going to nag him all night long till his ears bleed. “I shouldn’t have been so stupid to listen to your stupid suggestion and allowed you to even get close to that killer! Haven’t I told you before that he will kill without mercy?”
“Like a gazillion times.” Kyuhyun muttered under his breath, soft enough to not let Kangin hear that while Heechul and Hangeng tried their best to muffle their laughter. “But Heechul’s one of them as well!!” He defended, unhappy that everything was against him.
“Was! Was one with them!” Hangeng yelled, quickly rising to defend his lover and Heechul nodded.
Kangin growled at the both of them and they kept quiet, lowering their heads like good little kids. Turning his attention back to Kyuhyun, he continued, “That’s not what I meant! You idiot! And furthermore, you just had to go ahead and do the opposite thing I told you not to! When will you learn?! Aish!” Kangin continued pacing the room again. “Yah! You do remember that we have a revenge plan here to follow, don’t you?! What the hell were you thinking then? Running out like you did?!” Kangin repeated angrily.
Kyuhyun shrugged. Boy, he’s in so much trouble now but he couldn’t explain the reason why he acted so recklessly when he saw Sungmin screaming when he woke up from his nightmare. He only knew that he needed to be by his side. It was as if his protective instinct just flared to action and his body just reacted that way before his brain could stop him. “I just- He was awake.” And screaming as if his life depended on it…
Kangin eyed Kyuhyun closely. He’d watched the young lad grow up into a fine young man and he wasn’t about to let him act so recklessly again. With a defeated sigh, his broad muscular shoulders sagged in defeat. “I have already told you to let me handle this. Putting your life in danger is something that I cannot live with. How will I be able to face your Appa and Umma later when I die?” Kangin said remorsefully, dropping his big head into his hands as he sank back heavily onto a nearby chair.
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes. He had no idea how many times he’d heard this part of the story. If it was to make him feel bad, it wasn’t working anymore because he had grown immune to the same old sob story. When force didn’t work, Kangin will resort to showing his pitiful side because he knew that Kyuhyun will become even more defiant if Kangin continued to use brute force. But nevertheless, Kyuhyun felt the need to indulge his hyung. “Mianhae, hyung.” He went to Kangin’s side and placed an arm around his hyung’s shoulders, an attempt to comfort him. “I won’t do it again.” Yea right. As if that’ll do any good. Kyuhyun smirked at that evil inner thought.
Head still in his hands, Kangin nodded and cleared his throat before looking up with a sad look. “Make sure you don’t.” He growled and then quickly got up when Leeteuk strolled casually into the room with a file in his hand. Kyuhyun stuck his tongue out at Kangin’s back, rolling his eyes again when he saw at how happy Kangin was when he saw Leeteuk.
All anger forgotten and the atmosphere around them lightened considerably, Kangin bounced towards Leeteuk. “Teukie!” Kangin’s tail wagged happily as he fussed all over Leeteuk who smiled brightly when he saw his lover.
“Kanginnie.” He replied affectionately. Both idiotic lovebirds were fawning over each other like lovesick idiots and then had heart shaped bubbles floating around in the background as they were lost in each other’s gazes.
The other occupants in the room sweatdropped; Heechul was making silent choking sounds and Hangeng pretended to be amazed at how incredibly powerful the firewall he was working on whilst Kyuhyun was lazily lounging on his reclining chair with his long legs propped on top of his executive table and has turned to the monitors and busied himself with them. He was feeling utmost relief that he was no longer the subject of Kangin’s attention. The lovey dovey scene between the two older men was just too much for them to handle and they wished that they were somewhere far, far away.
“Teukie, are you tired?” Kangin pulled a chair and gestured for Leeteuk to sit down before massaging his shoulders. “Such stiff shoulders. Shall I undo the knots later?”
Leeteuk giggled and a wide smile plastered on his handsome face. “I’ll take you up on that offer.” Kangin’s smile just grew even wider and Kyuhyun wondered if his head if going to split into two.
There was a slight sting as he turned back to the monitors. The numbness around his neck had begun to wear off and Kyuhyun knew that the bruises are there to stay for quite some time. His hand unknowingly snaked towards his neck and he ghosted his fingertips over the bruising marks. This was his punishment - for treating Sungmin as he did but this kind of injury was something minor compared to the old wound that he had carried around since he was a child; an emotional and psychological wound. One that will never heal until he has gotten his revenge and Sungmin was going to help him do just that.
“What are you both doing?” Ryeowook blinked with puzzlement at the scene before him as he stepped into the room with a big opened box in his arms.
Both Leeteuk and Kangin jumped hastily away from each other and turned their backs from Ryeowook, quickly making themselves presentable.
The other three silently thanked Ryeowook for arriving just in the nick of time. Any longer and they were sure that both Kangin’s and Leeteuk’s flirting would get even worse. No matter how cheesy or how hot both Leeteuk and Kangin were getting into, they will always break it up whenever Ryeowook was around because they believed that he was too innocent and pure to be corrupted. Yea, right. Sarcasm intended.
“Nothing, Wookie. Just that Kangin saw a loose thread and wanted it get it off me.” Leeteuk smiled painfully. “Right, Kanginnie?” He eye-signalled the other man to support his answer.
“Oh? Right, right. Here,” Kangin pretended to pluck something on Leeteuk’s shoulder and threw it away carelessly. “There, I got it off already. Good as new.”
“Thanks.” Both of them blushed like teenagers caught by parents while having a romp in the back of the truck whilst Kyuhyun, Heechul and Hangeng sniggered at their awkwardness because they knew that Ryeowook was anything but innocent especially when he was with Yesung. Ryeowook was usually the instigator of both of their intimate and heavy love-making sessions; often pulling a blur and innocent Yesung into secluded corners or hidden rooms. Only Kangin and Leeteuk were oblivious to such actions and they would like to keep it that way. God knows what will happen when Leeteuk’s maternal instinct and Kangin’s paternal instinct were roused.
Definitely not good at all... The three of them shuddered at the mere thought, swearing silently never to let their Leeteuk umma and Kangin appa find out about the devastating truth.
“Really? Okay.” Ryeowook hummed happily as he placed the box that he was carrying down onto a nearby table and flexed his shoulders, hissing blissfully when his tired shoulders popped in its sockets.
Hangeng looked around before asking, “Where’s Yesung?”
Ryeowook smiled creepily. “He’s... resting.” And the three of them shuddered again, mentally getting the cryptic message and swearing not to ask anymore.
“He’s still tired?” Leeteuk queried, making a mental note to check on him later. “I thought that the shot I gave him yesterday will make him more energised.”
Ryeowook’s smile grew even wider. “It did. Just that it wasn’t enough.” He sighed happily as Leeteuk gave a confused look.
Things were getting a little too weird so Kyuhyun decided to change the topic. And fast. “What’s this?” Kyuhyun peeked curiously into the box and saw that it was filled with vials of various colours and sizes. He cautiously poked at one vial, as if it would explode if he decided to pick it up. Nothing good ever came from Ryeowook’s experiments. The ingenious chemist who, despite his looks, had a dangerous streak that was kept tight on a leash and when provoked… Kyuhyun gulped nervously. He didn’t want to feel the brunt of Ryeowook’s temper when he exploded.
“Hmm? Something that could melt those nosy fingers of yours.” Ryeowook answered absent-mindedly as he rummaged through his other vials.
Kyuhyun immediately snatched his hand back and stared in horror. “Remind me again why I fund all your useless research?”
“Because all my useless research goes well with all your stupid plans.”
Good comeback. Kyuhyun thought. He then turned towards Leeteuk who was still silently flirting with Kangin with his eyes. Clearing his throat, he asked, “Teukie hyung, how is he?”
Leeteuk stopped and turned to look at Kyuhyun, acting all serious and professional like the doctor he is. “He’s a little bruised here and there and his old injuries aren’t healing as fast as I thought it would be. Probably because he’s been straining himself too much after he left you.”
Kyuhyun stiffened. He didn’t like the part, ‘…after he left you.’ How could have he been so careless?! Reflecting on the times they were together, Kyuhyun had believed that Sungmin would have chosen to stay by his side instead of disappearing into the darkness of the night with that blasted Siwon. When Sungmin had asked him to leave that one night to buy more rolls of bandages, he knew that something was wrong and was even happy that Sungmin did not want to put him into danger.
Shaking his head to clear away the troubling thoughts, it was all in the past. No use dwelling on it now because he could never turn back time. He quickly changed the uncomfortable topic by asking Ryeowook, “Did you do what I asked you to do?” His eyes were on Kangin, as if silently telling his hyung that he could take care of himself now and that he knew what he was doing.
Ryeowook nodded. “I’ve already did as you instructed. Mixing the Immobiliser into his I.V. drip. He shouldn’t be able to move from head down. That way, he wouldn’t be able to attack you anymore.”
Hangeng perked up at the word ‘Immobiliser’ and turned away from his current conquest and faced them with a slight frown. “Now that you mentioned it, Wookie. Your drug, I mean no disrespect, but you know that guy, the one called... Priest? Siwon?” He looked at Heechul who gave a small nod that he got the name correct. “He is really incredible! Despite me injecting Immobiliser into his system, he was still able to move. Not much though, but most importantly is that he actually managed to move!”
“WHAT!?” Ryeowook exploded and pounced onto Hangeng, grabbing his shoulders. “How can this be?! My perfected miracle drug! And I’d even adjusted the amount just right to make him unable to move at all and shut down his entire system within seconds!” Ryeowook was shaking Hangeng who looked perplexed. “Seconds, I tell you! Seconds!”
“I-I...” Hangeng stuttered, getting a little afraid when Ryeowook was losing his marbled, his eyes pleading Heechul to save him. When something went wrong in Ryeowook’s perfect plan, he gets agitated and a little violent. Nobody dared to disturb him when he allowed his ‘wild’ side come out. Well, almost nobody.
“Yah! Wookie, you’re going to kill Hangeng if you continue shaking him like that!” Heechul pried Hangeng from Ryeowook’s grip. “You want him to tell you why, right? He isn’t any good dead.” And Hangeng nodded furiously in agreement, quickly hiding behind Heechul before Ryeowook decides to attack him again.
Ryeowook teetered towards his favourite chair and sank onto it and moaned. “This is a disaster! I thought I’d perfected that drug!” His voice was raising and everyone remained silent, allowing Ryeowook to complain. “In certain dosages, it can even knock out an elephant in seconds! SECONDS I TELL YOU! And in small amounts, if the amount is right, it can temporarily paralyze an adult human but maintain his consciousness. How can this be?!” Ryeowook jumped to his feet, muttering that he needed some solitary time.
Heechul patted Hangeng who was shell shocked at Ryeowook’s sudden outburst. “It’s okay. I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with Wookie’s drug. It’s just that Priest is a little crazy when it comes to Min.” He turned to Kyuhyun who was silent throughout the entire drama and said knowingly, “It’s his determination that overcame Wookie’s drug.”
Kyuhyun’s frowned even more and crossed his arms across his chest. He didn’t like the fact that Siwon had so much affection towards his Sungmin. Wait a second?! His Sungmin?! His inner beast growled. Sungmin belonged to him and him only. He’d claimed his prize! And nobody can ever touch what is his!!
“Kyuhyun?” Leeteuk’s concerned face came into his view and he was forced back into reality. “Are you feeling unwell? You should really let me check those nasty marks on your neck.”
Kyuhyun shook his head. “No, hyung. I’m fine. This is nothing. It’s just that I’m tired after all that has happened.” He pulled himself onto his feet and gave a small wry smile. “I’m going to bed. See you all in the morning.” And he quickly left the room, leaving behind the four men behind who didn’t believe a single word he’d just said.

-Meanwhile, in the Headquarters...-
-
Siwon cursed and cursed again. He’d failed again. And the thought that he might lose Sungmin forever was eating him alive from the inside, causing him so much pain. How could this happen?! And on his watch too! He chewed on his nails and raked his head for any solutions to the mess created by that bastard Cho Kyuhyun!! He paced around his room, refusing to believe that something bad might befall his cherished one.
When he had regained consciousness, it had hit him hard that Sungmin had been kidnapped because if Heechul did decide to go a little nuts, there will sure be a big bloody mess. Since there was none, Siwon assumed that Sungmin must be still alive. What the hell was Death Princess doing here? Was he now working for Cho Kyuhyun now?! Just who the heck is this Cho Kyuhyun!? Millions of unanswered questions ran through his frantic mind. From the first time he laid eyes on Cho Kyuhyun, he knew that he was bad news and now Sungmin is in his filthy hands. He needed help. Lots of good help but to go through protocols and all that paperwork was just too time-consuming!
And who could be better than the Siamese twins. Wrenching the door open, he literally ran towards the Planning Department, bumping and knocking into a few people and not even looking back or apologizing. In his haste, he’d forgotten the calm and composed self that he had nurtured for so long. Because nothing can calm him when Sungmin was in the midst of danger.
“Donghae! Eunhyuk!” He shouted out loud as he burst into the office, earning a few surprised stares as most of the staff in the Planning Department stopped moving for awhile before resuming with their work. Looking around, he spotted the Siamese twins who waved to catch his attention and he quickly strode to their side.
“What’s up?” Eunhyuk asked as he munched on his donut, spilling powdered sugar all over the front of his shirt.
“I need your help.” Siwon whispered.
“Why are we whispering?” Donghae asked as he huddled closer.
“Min’s been…” Siwon gulped. The Siamese twins aren’t going to take this too well. Like him, they had some obsessive streak towards their kind hyung, not in a romantic way but still, it was as bad as Siwon’s.
Eunhyuk jabbed Siwon, obviously getting impatient with all the secrecy. “Sungmin hyung’s been what? Hurry up!”
Siwon looked around to make sure that no one else was eavesdropping into what he was about to tell them. Clearing his throat, he continued. “Kidnapped.” There! He’d said it. The milliseconds were slowly ticking away before realization finally set in.
There was a momentary silence before both of them exploded into a loud, “WHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!?!” The hustle and bustle of the Planning Department halted and all attention was back onto them again; some looked with disdain at how noisy they were whilst some continued with what they had been doing earlier.
Siwon’s hands quickly covered both of their mouths in an attempt to shush them up. Both Sungmin’s and his mission had been a top secret one and no one else was supposed to know about it. He still hasn’t given his report to Sir yet because of the surprising turn of events. Although the Death Princess was the most popular and number one hitman in the Headquarters, Min had been Sir’s favourite. And he was sure that Sir wouldn’t be too pleased about the fact that Sungmin had been kidnapped on his watch.
Eunhyuk pulled away and glared at Siwon, hands on his hips. “You were supposed to cover his back!”
“I was!” He fidgeted under Eunhyuk’s angry gaze. “Till something went wrong.”
“Wrong? Wrong?! We’re never wrong. For heaven’s sake, we’re ‘The Planning Department’! Nothing goes wrong here.”
Siwon chewed his lower lip. “This time we’re up against someone good. And that bastard has a lot more tricks up his smelly sleeve than the sleaziest of crooks.”
“Who are you talking about?!”
“Young master a.k.a. Cho Kyuhyun.”
“The young master is Cho Kyuhyun?!” Donghae parroted in surprise, his big eyes widening to the extent that Siwon was sure a fish was staring back at him. “Wait a sec, who is this Cho Kyuhyun?” Siwon sweatdropped.
Eunhyuk nodded in agreement. “Yea, who is Cho Kyuhyun?”
Siwon groaned. It was going to be another long night. There was some explaining to do but he was sure that by the end of it, he is going to be able to get the powerful Siamese twins’ support and cooperation in looking for Sungmin’s whereabouts. It was now up to him to get this mission over and done with before the Headquarters deploy their own private troop to search and destroy everything that threatened its existence. And Sungmin could be caught in the firing range.
Sungmin, Sungmin… Hang in there. I will come save you.

A/N: Okay... not much action here. Just needed to put in some humour to lighten things up. I want to clarify that there is no such thing as good or bad or black and white in my fic. The characters in my story are all humans and humans make mistakes which they will later regret and move on with life. There are, however, people who remain stagnant in life until something big come their way to give them a push so that they too, will be able to move on with life. What about the people who will never have that something big enough to push them then? I believe that everyone’s lives are intertwined and no matter what we do, we cause small ripples in others too till it is big enough to influence the lives of people we will never know or meet.
This is just my opinion. Just wanted to get it out. Getting a little philosophical at the moment. Something I was pondering whilst in class because I was too bored. And sleepy too...
Please do leave a comment. They are food for my thoughts. XDXD
