I remember recently, when my nephew was visiting, my sister decided to take him to a park in Beaverton (a suburb of Portland). So I tagged along.
The point of going to this park was that there were geese there, and we were going to feed them some crackers, bread, and other stale stuff we could find.
So we we're driving there, I notice this lady walking her dog. You know the bit character actress who always plays the snooty neighbor lady, who's always miss priss, and what not? Not Mrs Pool from the Hogan Family, but kind of like her..
Anyway, I notice this lady turn around as we're parking. SHe's like checking us out.. So we get out of the car, and my mom and sister start throwing the food to the geese, and my nephew is having a blast. I notice the lady is coming closer to my sister, and she's yelling at us to stop feeding the geese, and having her dog bark and chase after the geese.
This, of course, freaks out my nephew, and he starts crying and bawling. This lady is still giving us a hard time because we're feeding the geese, as "you're not supposed to! See the sign!!!"
So I take the bag with me, and find a garbage can, and dump it in there, and find a super small sign, near the pond and about 50 yards from where the geese were, and it clearly says don't feed the geese. So I understand we're not supposed to, etc (altho I wish I had just dumped them on the ground and told the lady to sit on my mid diget and spin (nice kryton reference))..
my nephew, who admittingly is a whiner, doesn't understand this whole thing, and is freaked out by this lady for yelling at his mom and "mee-ma", and having a dog chase the "geezers" away.
I just got the feeling she's one of those overly protective neighborhood ladies, who freaks out when someone does something in the least bit "outlandish". And I didn't like how she handled the situation, especially considering how it freaked out my nephew so much.
