It’s only far since I have a My Bloody Valentine icon. I just, well not just, came back from the movies. I’ve spent way too much time trying to find a F13 icon. I know how fast fangirls can be but not that fast I suppose. So I’ll just use this icon of Jared out promoting the film.
Anyway, the movie? It wasn’t scary but it did make me jump a lot. I wasn’t expecting much. It’s a F13 movie. It’s been done. I’ve seen several of them. I knew what to expect. It was a F13 by the book so in that respect I wasn’t disappointed. I was entertained just like I have been by the others. It would’ve been nice though if they had been able to do something new. You know, surprise the fans and make the actors stretch themselves.
I mean Jared was basically Sam. But less emo and not on the road to becoming the Anti-Christ (according to some anyway). I know the man can act so he would’ve been nice to see.
My only other problem with the movie was the female nudity. I’m all for it if it’s necessary (although is nudity ever really necessary?). I mean the breasts shots made sense in the context of the movie but you know what would’ve made sense? If a guy had to show a little something. It was just too much. Gratuitous. Just like in MBV. I know that type of thing is standard fare in horror movies. Like I said before, how about the powers that be surprise the audience?
Other random thoughts that I had during the movie:
Well, this was actually before the movie. 20 minutes of previews. Is there like a law or something now? I did see a preview for the
Watchmen. I’m so excited!! JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN!!!!
Jared gets top billing.
I swear Whitney’s BF’s hair was stuck in 1970-something.
I want to have Jared’s babies. Seriously. He’s like huge. Let’s go from top to bottom, shall we? The hair. He has crazy hair. Sometimes he’s freaking adorable and sometimes it’s like Jared, pick up a damn comb, okay? It is your friend. 99% of this movie his hair was just right. I just wanted to run my fingers through it. He had scruff. Usually I can’t stand Jared with facial hair. He just looks ridiculous. It's not hot in the least. In the movie though? Just right. He wore a t-shirt throughout most of the movie. So much arm!porn. Muscles and veins. Guh. Lastly, his jeans were fitting just right. I swear. Da. Yum. When he gets off the bike for like the first time, it’s like *sigh*.
Not that one movie - MBV or F13 - has to be better than the other but I was wondering which movie would be considered better. F13 is nothing special as remake. I can’t say the same about MBV since I haven’t seen the original. MBV had some plot issues that could’ve taken the movie to the next level. There wasn’t much for Jared to do as far as range. Jensen at least got to play a bad guy. All I know is I probably wouldn’t have gone to see either movie if not for them.
I’m banking on a sequel for both movies and I better not see either of them in them. I better not see either of them in another horror movie. These guys can act. They totally deserve better movies. They don’t want to be those guys stuck just doing stuff that pays the bills. I mean you gotta do what you gotta do but come on.
So that’s my review. It’s not much because the movie was pretty much all surface, no depth. I had fun though. That’s always a good thing.
