Give this show an Emmy!
I really shouldn't be rooting for Dexter not to get caught or for him and Rita to live happily ever after. I can't help it though. I mean except for the killing people thing, Dexter's not a bad guy. I mean he uses his powers for good and not evil so that counts for something, right? lol. And that makes it totally cool to think he's hot, right?
I love this show. I would have to put this at number one on my list of favorite season 1s (closely followed by Friday Night Lights and Supernatural/Prison Break). That's what I call storytelling and building suspense and totally surprising the audience. I mean I had no idea they were related. (I can't believe Harry left him. Fucked up. Truly.) No clue whatsoever. I actually jumped out of my seat and said, "HOLY SHIT!" I had to pause the DVD to take a minute to let it sink in. I was hoping that Deb wouldn't find out about Rudy/Brian. I felt so bad because this is going to set her back.
They made Dexter likable, really likable. Michael C. Hall is so perfect as Dexter. Kinda scary how good he is. I love the development of Rita's characters. I figured she'd be a pretty weak character but she has really developed a back bone. I didn't like Deb really at first. I found her annoying and thought she was riding her father's and Dexter's coattails. Turns out she's actually a good cop. She's still slightly annoying. I can deal with that though. I love the dark humor. So wrong but so funny.
Just a couple of random thoughts:
- The kid that plays teen Dexter looks like the offspring of Tom Welling and Jared Padalecki, you know if one of them was a girl.
- Rita could've totally gotten a divorce without Paul's signature. I worked in Family Court down in Miami. I know.
- Watching the show makes me miss Florida.
- I love Tony Goldwyn. He played the shrink in Shrink Wrap. He always plays a great villian.
- I love how Dexter wears the same attire when he goes skulking around.
Questions
If you know the answer but it would spoil me for season two, don't tell me.
- I thought Deb and Dexter were adopted? I could've sworn that was said in the first episode or early on. But now I have the impression only Dexter is adopted.
- If Joe Driscoll is Dexter's dad, who was the dead guy on the floor of the hotel room in Dexter's flashback?

Also, yeah for Reaper being back. I love this show's dark humor as well. I would have to say my favorites characters are (in order): Benji, Devil, Sock, and Sam. Still meh on Andi. For some reason, she does nothing for me. I do like Josie but we don't see her enough. We'll find out on May 13 hopefully that the show will be back for season 2. Please watch. I promise you'll love it.
