I had an extra day off yesterday. I go to start the car yesterday and it wouldn't turn on. A guy came to jump it. It was a no go. Had it towed to the shop and was told, after waiting 3 hours, that the starter blew and it effectively drained the battery. Wonderful. My first thought was 'Damn, Jay should be here.' I can handle the car stuff but I

The more I think about Season 2, the more I wonder if some of these loose ends/random and dropped storylines might have ben tied up over the rest of the season. They only got what, about 13 episodes? Or was it 15? In any case, there should be at least seven or so left, and I have to wonder if some of these things might have made more sense had they had more episodes to tie things up - like Landry on the football team because, yes, seriously, that was just utterly pointless, or the other football coach who's team shared the school with he Panthers and who's wife was terminally ill? What the hell was that about? It was so random. Wonder if it would've come up again later, or if Landry on the football team would have had some actual impact on the show, or if Waverly would have ever been mentioned again (though on that one I also have to wonder if maybe there was a scene earlier in the season that was cut out that explained it. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but I can't imagine that no one who works on the show has pointed out that Waverly has had not a single mention all season even though Smash was so dedicated to her at the end of last season)
I don't tear up (anymore) when I watch the pilot, but I still get chills every time I watch the football game - pretty much everything from Jason going down on is just so pitch perfect and Matt throwing that insane pass and the music and everything and I love it so, so much.
That's one of the things I love about watching a great show (or movie, for that matter) over and over again, when you can notice all those little things that you miss the first time around.
In the pilot, the captains are 7, 20 and 48. By the end of the season it's 7, 20 and 33.
I've wondered about that too. When did Riggins become a captain? Who was number 48? Guess it's just one of those bits of miscontinuity that happens between the Pilot ep of a series and the rest of the season.
I've only been an Army wife for a few months but from what I've seen so far, Matt and Lorraine should be better off.
Hmm. You bring up a good point. Here's my fanwank on that: we don't know how long Henry has been gone by the beginning of Season 1, but I'm going to assume that it's been a bit, since Matt seems pretty settled into this rutine. Plus, during his time at home Henry seemed pretty surprised by how ou of it Lorraine was, so maybe when he left she wasn't that bad. And Henry really doesn't seem to believe Matt about how bad it is until he gets home and sees for himself, and Matt's still just a young kid and unable, really, to deal with Army beaurocracy to get more help for her by himself, so it's not until his father comes back that they make any real attempt to get the funding that they're supposed to from the Army. Plus, Henry seems to be the only parent supporting the household (where the hell is Matt's mother? I'm still so curious about her and why the only mention of her has been that she lives in Oklahoma - why does Matt live with his grandmother and not his mother while his dad is gone? Why was Henry planning on sending him to live with his aunt? No mention of Matt's mother even in his "everybody leaves me" speech), so even with the Army salary and whatever he makes by being in Iraq, it's probably a bit hard to support both Matt and Lorraine.

WORD! I hope it's a deleted scene. In any event, it should've been worked in some how some way.
Re Army stuff: I can live with that fanwank. Before Henry left though, he should've looked into it because from what I've seen so far, Matt would definitely have help dealing with this stuff. It should be relatively easy to support Lorraine and Matt since you get housing and food allowances and other stuff. So like I said, artistic license.
I've wondered about his mom, too. Maybe's she crazy or sick and it's better if they no contact with her. I did wonder though if she's in OK and Matt's aunt is in OK, does his aunt have contact with her? And how would that be?
