If this was the real Jane backstory, she might be too fucked up for Linc. Imagine that, this whole time I thought he was too screwed up for her!

OMG Simone - this is great! I love Jane, and your Jane so, so much - and this backstory you have woven fits in well with my mental image of Jane too. *g*

And he never said it again. And she was okay with that.

This image is particularly poignant to me, as it reminds me of my own Dad. He's never been one to express emotion verbally; that's just how he is. But I know he loves me, so I can deal with him not saying it.

She did not bother to look through the peephole. It was not like she was going to fight back if someone was there to kill her.

Oh wow. I love the sense of despair you painted in such a concise scene. Amazing. And you made me see the redeeming power of revenge as a motive for living (I usually don't). I loved the line above...to be in a place where truly nothing matters. There's no threat except herself. Thank you for posting!

I'm glad you liked it. Since they are just moments in time, I wanted each part to be concise but say a lot since she would always remember them.

I put in the scene of her remembering hitting her boyfriend because it seems fitting considering she took a headbutt. I figured she's been tough since she was young and not just from fighting against The Company.
