So, about that stuff...

Still stewing over not being able to see Transformers tonight. Bitter at LensCrafters? Me? Perish the thought. :| I am also not looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Between working at LensCrafters and CustomInk 'team building' crap taking up my weekends, I'm gonna really be struggling to find time to work on AWA stuff. *rubs face*

So to take my mind off it, let me talk about last weekend!

Cedar Point was awesome. Got to ride all the coasters I wanted at least once. I think the only one I didn't ride at least twice was the Mantis which is goofy, 'cause there was never any line for it. Being end of the season, even the rides notorious for their monster 3+ hour lines (lookin' at you, Millennium; Raptor; Dragster) were usually no more than about 45 minutes. I think the longest we waited was at the Dragster for over an hour because it broke down (no surprise there). But for the most part, they were really cranking the trains out so even when the lines started to get long, they moved really quick. huzzah! Also got to ride the Maverick for the first time and it left some colorful bruises on my arm for it. lol Events of note:
  • Waiting in line for the Magnum (happy 20th birthday baby!), some yahoo had his camera out. Ride attendant told him to put it away and he did. Then, as the train was starting to pull out of the station, he whips it back out. In a moment of brilliance, the operator hits the station brakes, stops the train and the attendant takes the guy's camera and puts it in the holding bin. Train finished pulling out and the attendant tells the rest of us that they WILL make a repeat performance if they see anyone else with their camera out. Cue applause. :D
    • They also censored the in-ride photo of some girl who had her camera out on the Mean Streak. Cedar Fair must be really cracking down on people having their crap out during the ride. Not that I blame them.
  • A different kind of ride pain: front seat on the Millennium in the rain and front seat on the Dragster through a cloud of tiny bugs. OW OW OW TINY BULLETS. I still have bug guts on my jacket. D:
  • Speaking of the Dragster, we got to see one fail to clear the top of the hill. Dad was so mad. XD He keeps waiting for it to happen to him but of course the chances of that happening are astronomical. But it was neat to see. I thought for sure it would make it by the barest amount but nope- slid right back to the launch station.
As a related tibit, apparently Cedar Fair is putting in a Millennium-esque coaster at King's Dominion. Which is a nicer way of saying that we're getting a giga-coaster... because giga-coaster just sounds dumb. (for reference: hyper-coaster = lift hill over 200ft (Magnum XL200, Superman: Ride of Steel, etc.), giga-coaster = 300+ (Millennium Force) and strata-coaster = 400+ (Top Thrill Dragster)) It's supposed to be pretty different from the Millennium's layout tho, so I'm excited to see what they come up with; didn't I say they'd get something worthwhile into that park before long? ;)

Related in that I played it almost non-stop on the ride out and back is Dissidia. What a fun fighting game. :D I was a little perplexed when they started asking me how often I play and on what day I usually play the most, but it makes sense once you get into the meat of the game. Trust Square to put so much thought into what's usually such a simple shell. I'm still getting the hang of the controls; the fights are very fast paced, so it takes a lot of reflex playing which I am notoriously bad at, but so far so good.

The whole play system breaks down into a kind of 'tug-o-war' feel, where you're constantly battling with your opponent over who can rack up the most Bravery before landing the killing blow or even just scrambling to get what you can and duck-peck the other person to death. The whole thing is just drowning in that special Squaresoft feel to it... ground is only an option, you're constantly bouncing off walls and pillars and various scenery, and all the moves are flashy and showy. It makes for excellent visuals. My eyeballs are pleased. :3

My favorite character so far? I'm torn between Zidane and Firion. Cecil comes in a close second/third. I was on the verge of actually not having anything bad to say about Tidus but then I discovered that if you miss with some of his attacks, he stumbles and leaves you wide open for a couple of seconds. Plenty of time for the other person to come in and assrape you. So close, Tidus. So close. I've yet to play Terra, Onion Knight, Bartz or Warrior of Light, but I'm getting there. Slowly unlocking all the bad guys too... but I'm a little disappointed that they don't seem to have a story mode. :(

Not much to say about the Metroid Trilogy... it's just the old games with the new Wii controls. Tho, that does make a TON of difference. Goodness gracious, so much easier to play. I was blasting thru Prime1 and having a grand ol' time. XD One day I'll have time to sit down and keep playing. haw haw

And now... burgers of death are calling me. Food tiem! :9

More as the Chronoplast turns.
