I was never convinced my what they taught me about introversion/extraversion when I was studying psychology. It seems to me to be far more complex than a simple linear cline, at least for most of the people I know well. Parties, public speaking, video cameras, meeting new people, interviews, acting all bring out unpredictable reactions. I've known professional actors who hated socialising, party animals terrified of being photographed and it all seems to be connected more with associations than character.
Personally, I like being on stage, run from parties but also love them and being an utter wimp in many ways, I'm hugely proud of the fact that I just managed to negotiate, in a foreign language that I don't know very well, to buy some lovely beer glasses in a fairly dingy bar. I almost didn't do it, being scared they'd say no or not understand and that's my own limits pushed...
