Mother Earth's has moved and her shopping carts litter the parking lot.

Ok. This is not an Earth Day slam. But, considering that Earth Day is today, I did find this funny tonight (21st).

Mother Earth's is a natural foods store in Kingston NY. Hadn't been to it in months (since last year before September). I like buying dried and unsulphured papaya or mango, or dried apples, or Agave sticks (like honey sticks - sealed straws with honey). Today, I was looking for egg replacer.

Get to the open mall - with enclosed walkway, so semi-open? - and actually get a parking spot near the store. Then, I notice that the Mother Earth's sign is no longer on the building. Go inside, and see a sign that it is down at the end of the hall where the CVS used to be. It looks very nice inside and larger and well organized. The cafe is in the back of the store. Overall, nice, clean isles better spaced. When asked, the cashier mentioned that they had been in their location since around February. They wanted to move in sooner, I surmised, and when the opportunity finally opened up, they had finished repainting the store and set up and moved in in 3 days.

Found, the egg replacer. It wasn't the brand that I was familiar with, and it was over $9 dollars for a cellophane bag. Only later, did I realize that this was a deal. Oh well. I will find a green grocer around Amsterdam, or go to the one out by Half Moon some weekend - or go find one when in Agawam MA next weekend.

So walking back to my car after getting a few other things, I see no less than 3 Mother Earth grocery carts scattered around where the store used to exist - outside in the parking lot stuck among the landscaping. Had to laugh. The carts are green in color. They were all very clean. I'm sure that the people who left them there were not trying to make an Earth Day statement, but in my mind they certainly were. It seems they will go out of there way to find organic, non-gluten, non-wheat, etc. products consistent with their health needs, interests, or personal health philosophy. But, they are not going out of their way to maintain the public environment. I think my mind looked at everything and said, "Yuppy Wal-Mart Scum". LOL I guess if it a small consolation, the carts were not in the parking lot against other cars or filling up a parking spot as you might find them at any large box store with a large parking lot. I guess laziness and disregard are still part of the human condition regardless of where you shop. And, what can you say but they were literally 'littering' the landscape (landscaping).
