So earlier this month, or last month I don't remember, I entered this "Teens Write For Fun" Contest that our local libraries were holding. I was in a creative writing class last year and decided to enter some of the stuff I wrote then. 18 was the oldest you could be (so I can't enter again unfortunately). I just got a letter today saying that I won first place for my poem "Down By The Bay" (which I can't find on the computer, so I'll have to put it up later) and an Honourable Mention for my poem "The Darkness" (which I just wrote for English this year when I did it by correspondence, it only took me 2 minutes to write). I wrote the first poem just after my grandfather passed away last year (it's almost been one year and I was crying about it earlier on the phone with Richie) and it was partially about/for him in a way. So that makes me happy. I think I'll be getting something like $300. That's just awesome. My mom keeps saying it's my "scholorship money" since I didn't get any from the school last year.
Here's the poem I won an Honourable Mention for:

behind the door.
Shall I open?
The grumbling voice
like the bark of a guard dog
ready to attack.
Shall I run?
The stench of sulfur
and rotting flesh.
Shall I stop my breath?
A dry mouth.
No saliva left.
Shall I drink?
The hard, cold ground.
Shall I sleep?

I'll find the other one and put it up later.
