Summertime and livin' is not so easy.

Tis my first summer in the capitol and everything is not all peaches and cream. Perhaps I'm just used to lazing around an air-conditioned house, watching tv, gaining weight, etc - however, DC seems to have other plans in mind (as well as my non-existent parents who have chosen to dwell abroad).

The Smith Center, up until now, has been literally draining energy out of my soul for 6 hours a day. During the year it's not so bad because I can pass the time pretty quickly with homework and such. However, during the summer, even catching up on my insurmontable reading list can't curb the slow (oh so slow!) passage of time in this building. On the bright side, I've started my second job at Banana Republic and much to my chagrin, it is a perfectly fine workplace. My managers and coworkers are not only superfriendly but infinitely interesting. I find that helping customers, folding shirts and putting things on hangers isn't as tedious as I imagined. The hours fly by and all this is augmented by my superb employee discount (fuck yeah). / What did suck was commuting during rush hour via Metro to Georgetown. I actually was closed out on a metro car and had to bear wall-to-wall BO during the ride itself. Now I understand all those gripes in the Post from disguntled commuters.

Today in the Express (Washington Post) they introduced a new brain game, Sudoku. I am obsessed and overjoyed that I have something in addition to Crosswords to tackle in my spare time.

Summer in DC is great because a_ I live with the most incredible people in the world, b_ most of my friends are in town as well, c_ I got paid to go to Bonnaroo with Jomofo, JBH and Rachel, d_ did I mention I'm surrounded by the best people ever?
