Busy summer
Wow, I haven't posted since I saw Slither... I guess it's about time. Lots has happened.
So first off, I just got back from my fourth con this year, and I've got at least one more this summer. We went to Tekko back in... what... March or April, was it? It was just BEFORE I saw Slither, not sure why I didn't mention it in here. Good time, extremely small. Honestly, not my favorite event, but still a good time. Then we went back to ACen in May. That's definitely become my favorite con. It's like Rollins talking about going to Israel, "The vibe is WILD." Then it was back to Rosemont three weeks later for Play! A Videogame Symphony. The exclamation point is part of the event's name, not the end of a sentence. Also quite an incredible experience. Akira Yamaoka played Laura's Theme from Silent Hill 2, and he was a damned rock star. Angela Aki performed Kiss Me Goodbye from FFXII and Eyes On Me from FFVIII. Kenji Kondo did a piano solo of music from NSMB. Really amazing stuff, once in a lifetime. Three weeks after that (which would be this past weekend), we went to Anime Next for the D'espairsRay show. Also not my favorite event (I don't mean D'Ray wasn't incredible), but I don't think I've ever come away from a convention with more stories. I mean holy crap, some of the shit that went on... I don't feel like typing it all up here, there's just too much, so talk to me if you want to hear about it.
I've got a chance to see Peelander Z soon, but honestly, I think I'm just gonna take a break until Otakon. I've hit my limit, and I think I need a month away from major events. Besides, they're becoming frustrated with me at work, and all the days I've been taking off this summer.
So Otakon, first weekend of August, is gonna be awesome like it always is. And then, last weekend (I think) of August, looks like we're going to Monster-Mania Con. Which could also be cool. Aside from guest panels and autograph stuff, and likely movie screenings, I'm not exactly sure what would go on at a horror convention, but I'm sure it's badass.
Unless something special goes down, I bet I won't post again 'till Otakon.
