So I've decided to apply to the leave replacement position for next year at South Brunswick. I love the school, the students, and the staff. It's my favorite of the schools where I have worked, and there will be some retirements in the department within a year or two. In other words, if I play my cards right, this could all be a foot in the door at this district.
I get angry on the inside sometimes because I have not been able to keep a job. Is it me or just the schools where I have worked? Is my jealousy for the other "lucky" ones misplaced? I don't know Either way, it's unsettling.
Anyway, I will be interviewing for that position at some point either next week or the following week. This will be the first time I'm interviewing with people I know pretty well including my supervisor, who has written me four solid observations and a strong letter of recommendation.
The funny part is that they know the daily, every day Austin, and not just the professional Austin I flaunt during interviews.
Only time will tell.
