Today, I had to fabricate and install about 50 linear feet of steel handrail around the top of a 20 foot tall platform. For those of you who don't do steelwork, welding over your head with 50 feet of gas and wire feed tubes slung over your shoulder while standing on the "do not stand on or above this step" step of a big ladder is not only extremely difficult, but more than a little bit dangerous. Oh, and it had to be done in six hours.
I'm thankful that i've got the mad skills required to pull off this bullshit stunt that my boss handed me. I'm thankful that I didn't fall and die or hurt myself badly. I'm thankful that I only got one 3rd degree burn from a blob of dripping molten steel. I'm thankful that I have a bottle of really good scotch to hit as soon as I got home. Truly, I am blessed.
Oh, and i'm thankful that I got bank. Becuase it isn't about the art, today. It's about the money.
