(no subject)

Matt and I got home from Ojai last night and we both just had to mope around the house today to recouperate. It was so wonderful to finally get to meet all of the extended family on his mom's side, but I do regret that it had to happen under such sad circumstances. Matt's grandma did tell me afterwards that she was so proud of me, that everyone had said that Matt had made a great choice, and that I was going to be an incredible addition to the family. Yay for that.
School/Work:
Well, I have this week and next monday left for classes. Then, I have a month of practicum left. It's so strange to be this close to finishing college and moving on to the next major stage of my life. For practicum, I was assigned in the Sacred Heart NICU on the night shift (7 am-7 pm). My mentor works 6 nights on and then has 8 days off, so I apologize now for being cranky and completely MIA during those 6-day stretched. I also need to register and study for the NCLEX....poo.
I've started looking around for jobs and have actually put in an application at Sacred Heart for their nurse residency program. There are only 3 spots in the area that I would want, so I don't think that the chances of me getting a position are that great (EVERYONE and their pet monkey wants peds, which just happens to be paired with NICU for this......DAMN). However, although I do desperately want to work in the NICU, I honestly wouldn't mind just starting out on a general med/surg floor where there are always available jobs. I have no doubt that I will be able to get a job, it's just a matter of what area of the hospital I end up in.
Ouches:
Matt had to have a small oral surgery procedure done today, so he'll just be on liquids for the next few days. He's doing well....hasn't needed any pain medication yet, but I'm going to have him fill his prescription tomorrow just in case.
I sliced my finger open on a metal wire this afternoon. Lots of blood and it seriously hurt. However, I don't think that amputation will be necessary....yay.
***My mom is moving to Spokane this weekend.
***I miss Nana.
***Matt now gets benefits through his job at the Blood Bank, so we don't have to worry about finding health coverage.
***My finger really hurts....maybe I will need to cut it off.
