The Other End - A Nino Drabble
Ninomiya Kazunari did not think it was was going to be so difficult to do, but he finally managed to say it.
He felt releived. It was over and done with, and part of him was happy.
Another part, however, made him want to kick himself for having such great timing.
"Seriously..."
The girl snuffed and shook her head.
"You just had to pick this night, huh? And still blunt as always."
She laughed and breathed in deeply before closing her eyes. Nino buried his hands in his pockets and looked down on his shoes. He couldn't look at her.
The girl just sat still and held her hands together on her lap. The moonlight was shining on her dark, perfectly fixed hair.
"I'm sorry...You just really needed to know."
She smiled and nodded.
"I see..."
She laughed again and stood up. She smoothed the creases made on her lovely dress and turned to face him. Tears were forming in her eyes already, but she did not let them escape.
"Thank you...for being honest." she managed to say without choking. "It reminded me why I liked you so much...even though I think that right now, you are the worst person that I have ever met."
This time, Nino looked at her. She just looked straight at him with all the hurt in the world reflecting in her eyes, but she still had a small smile.
"Jaa...I'll go back inside now."
Nino nodded.
"Gomen." he said. It was all he could say. He didn't want to hurt her. She was a wonderful person. But he could not lie to himself, and he could not lie to her. She needed to know the truth.
Nino was not used to being on that end. He was usually the one who was in the girl's place. It was the first time that he understood what it was like to be on the other side...
He just broke someone's heart.
