Never in my life has my schedule been so packed with things to do! While I enjoy being busy I sort of miss the days of leisure. Here is a quick synopsis of what has been and will be going on over the next couple of months.
Of course, still plugging away at the wedding plans. It's like a full time job-seriously. I bought all of the materials for the invitations. I am designing them, of course and it will probably be quite a bit of work but I think they will look AWESOME! when I am finished. I went to the same paper store that I purchased Amanda's wedding invitation supplies from. They keep books full of invitations people have made, including the one I did for Amanda. When I was sharing this information with the owner, who was helping find some cool paper, he told me he had just sold a design based on mine and showed me what it was going to look like. (They design and put together invites for people in addition to selling paper and other cool things...) It made me feel really good and wish that my job was more fullfilling for me these days... I couldn't help but think how nice it would be to design beautiful invites for people who are appreciative of what I do. Wishful thinking...
Monday Shawn and I went to the traveling Cirque de Soleil. It was fantastic! The abilities those people have are amazing. This particular show was based on a dream sequence of one of the characters and went in all kinds of directions. It was bizarre but still very interesting. There was always so much going on I didn't know where to look. I would definately like to go to another show, preferably the one in Vegas.
Yesterday I booked tickets to Philadelphia in June. Even though Shawn and I are getting married in October, I have yet to meet any of his family. He is from south Jersey, but moved here on a rowing scholarship he received in college. Even though I really can't afford it, I thought it was important and knew it was important to Shawn. I am actually really looking forward to it. I have spoken to his mom on the phone and I have never been so comfortable with a significant other's mother. It's not that uncomfortable small talk but more like a conversation with a friend. So I am really looking forward to meeting her. Shawn's older sister is probably the one I most nervous about. This is probably because I know my sisters scrutinize my boyfriends more than my mom. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I have never spoken to her. Anyways, we are flying out on a Wednesday evening and returning Sunday evening. It will be a whirlwind trip, as we are going to visit New York and Atlantic City!!!! I am so excited about that. I have never been to the east coast.
My friend John in coming in from Chicago tomorrow. I am really excited about that too!!! Friday I am having a BBQ to celebrate and Saturday we are going out to celebrate Nick's birthday! Next weekend is our Engagement Encounter weekend. I was kind of looking forward to it, but now I am just dreading it. I really need my weekends to deflate and I have a feeling that the weekend has the potential to be a little more intense than I would like. Actually that probably depends on how seriously Shawn and I take it. I do think it's a good opportunity to talk about things we might not talk about otherwise, but I don't want to bring up uncomfortable subjects and leave feeling like they are just hanging in the air. I don't have anything particular in mind, but when you have a whole weekend with nothing to do but talk, who knows what will come up?!?
Well there is a quick update. I should be posting some pics soon of the weekend festivities, but for now anyone who is interested can look at my wedding dress. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! When it comes in, I totally plan on putting it on every weekend (at least once) until the wedding. What other time can you dress like that and get away with it?!?!
