Yesterday I went to the car dealership to get an oil change. I had a coupon for $5 off the price. So after the service was done, and I went to pay, the cashier chick accidentally subtratced the entire amount of the service ($35.95) rather than only $5 of it for the coupon. She didnt notice her mistake till after she closed the transaction on the computer and handed me the receipt with the total charge of $0. After a few 'aw crap's, she had to call in her manager to see if he could open back up the transaction and fix the pricing. Meanwhile, I just stood there with my debit card waiting to pay while looking confused. Her manager said "Ok, I'll take care of it", and he wrote down $30.95 (what I should've paid) on their copy of the receipt. He handed me back my receipt with $0 on it and said 'merry christmas'. I was like, "Really? Are you sure?". He nodded and said "Yeah, I'll take care of the balance". I thanked him a few times and also wished him a merry x-mas and all that jazz. I can only assume either he's gonna pay the difference out of his pocket, or somehow have the dealership absorb the cost. Whichever, I still got a free oil change.
Now I feel like I have to 'pay it forward', but I dunno how.
hmm....
