I have a little something to say to you.
You know, carrying a gun in public makes me mistrust you. I don't care who you are. I don't care if you're white trailer trash, black ghetto gangsta, Russian mobster, Asian Tong, it doesn't matter. I don't care if you think you are normal. I don't care if everyone in your family carries guns and you've had one since you were little.
If you have a gun, it means that you are dangerous and unpredictable, and that you can kill anyone you want in the room at a moment's notice, and you would, if you get the notion to.
Carrying a gun in public means that you are a menace. By carrying a gun in public, you are essentially saying, "I could kill you if I wanted to, and I will if you provoke me." Essentially, you are a would-be murderer, waiting for the opportunity to commit murder. That's how I see you.
You are not a person I am going to trust. I am going to avoid you while I am in your presence and actively get away from you at the earliest opportunity. Concealed carry is even worse because you are, essentially, pretending to be a normal person when you are not.
You are just waiting for an opportunity to kill someone or something. I would no more trust you or have confidence in you than I would the Devil himself.
To me, you are the Devil himself.
I am not willing to carry a gun myself, because then I would be like you. I would live in a world of paranoia and fear. I would be taking on myself the right to pass the ultimate judgment on whether someone should live or not. I would be carrying Death with me at all times, not Life.
I don't want to be like you.
But by carrying a gun, you force me into a situation where I have to distrust you. I have to be wary of you, because you could be absolutely out of your fucking mind, waiting for just the right moment to open fire into a crowd or just blow somebody's brains out. Because you have a gun, that is always a possibility.
You like to pretend that you are a warrior and a protector and an upholder of decency. The Taliban think they are too. So does Boko Haram. They reinforce their morality with the barrel of a gun. They too believe they are right. They too believe God is on their side.
Think about that next time you look at your gun, before you strap it on.
Or not. I doubt you will.
But know this: I will never trust you. I will never have faith in you. I will never believe a word you say. And I will never spend more than a few seconds in your presence if I can help it.
Because you are too dangerous to be around.
If that's who you want to be, I won't argue with you; you could kill me.
You have the upper hand.
This makes you a terrorist.
