A/N: WOW I'm tired. XD It's been a loooong day. A good one, but a long one.
As some time passed, Yesung unknowingly started talking to Kyuhyun less and less. It was partially because the restaurant had been pretty busy, partially because he didn’t want to mess up Kyuhyun’s relationship with Sungmin, and partially because he hadn’t needed to. Ever since that night, Siwon had more or less left him alone. He had been going out to meetings more and more and talking to Yesung less and less. Sometimes days would go by without Yesung seeing Siwon at all.
When he did see Siwon, the manager hardly said anything to him. Yesung couldn’t put his finger on it, but he seemed different somehow. He shrugged. He was probably just imagining things. After all, it wasn’t like Siwon would ever be nice to him or anything like that. Work seemed to pass quickly and he finally felt like he had begun adjusting to the way things worked.
A few more weeks passed, and Kyuhyun had succeeded in asking Sungmin out. It didn’t hurt as much as Yesung had imagined it would to know they were together, and it made it a lot easier for him to focus on his work and not on Kyuhyun. Still, he was a little sad about it. It almost made him cringe to think about the last time he had felt like this. He couldn’t bring himself to think about it while he was working. That incident and this incident were completely different, and although the sense of loss and sadness was the same, it was nowhere near as intense this time as it had been last time.
As Yesung, clocked off, he gathered his stuff and left the restaurant. He had had to stay until closing time and it was a little late, so there weren’t many people on the streets at all. Glancing across the street, he froze. He blinked and shook his head, just as the last bus pulled up to the bus stop across the street. He stared after it in shock, shaking his head. Surely he hadn’t seen the person he had thought he had. It must have been someone who just looked a bit like him. Reassuring himself that that was what it was, he walked home, reminding himself that it was a nice night and that, even if he had been right, nothing would come of it anyway.
That night, Yesung tossed and turned in his sleep. A dream he hadn’t had in a long time was plaguing him. In the dream, he could see two people holding hands and laughing. There was a thudding sound, packages and boxes being dropped, and the two people turned around. He could see their faces now, and he could feel the tears rolling down his cheeks. To say it was a dream wasn’t quite right though. It was a memory, a memory he had wanted very badly to forget about. Opening his eyes, he brought the back of his hand to his cheek, wiping away the tears he felt there. Sitting up, he pulled his knees to his chest and rested his chin on top of him. Now what?
He hadn’t had that dream in ages and he felt terrible, but there was no one to comfort him. He sighed, closing his eyes and searching his mind. Suddenly, Siwon’s face came to mind, a small smile on his manager’s lips. Yesung opened his eyes. Had he ever seen the manager smile, he asked himself. He could only recall one instance, when he had seen the manager conversing with a customer.
“He actually does look pretty handsome when he smiles,” thought Yesung to himself, before shaking his head. What was he thinking? He had already had enough grief from work place romances. He couldn’t get himself caught up in another dead end fantasy. Sighing, he lay back down and closed his eyes, hoping that he would be able to sleep peacefully. At the very least, he hoped he wouldn’t have the same dream again. He had work the next day, and he already knew that if he was tired and unfocused, the manager was going to scold him again.
The next morning, Yesung woke up for work feeling terrible. He hadn’t slept well at all after that dream, he was irritated and upset about it, and he couldn’t motivate himself to smile at all. It was going to be a tough day at work. Just thinking about how the manager would reprimand him made him cringe. Dragging himself to his feet, he started to get ready as slowly as possible. Though, even that wouldn’t help him. If he was late to work, things would be even worse. Yesung could tell, it was going to be one of those days.
