yesterday i moved into the freshman dorm for senior week. sort of like salmon swimming back upstream to die.
i had forgotten how crappy the freshman dorms are. xander, if you thought the classrooms looked like crack houses, you should see this place! i opened the door to my assigned room and the floor was filthy. not just dust and hair as i would've expected - there was candy all over the place. i don't know how many skittles i stepped on, but my shoes were sticking to the floor. there were also hair elastics, vitamins, lip balm containers and shoeboxes under the beds. you'd think these kids could at least pick their shit up off the floor before people start moving in 2 hours after they're supposed to be out. oh, and they left a beer in the fridge too. that was real slick.
because of the heat and the mess (and also the fact that i didn't know anyone there) i decided i'd head home where it was cooler. i wandered around campus a bit before i left and took some pictures of the horse chestnuts and tulip trees in bloom. i drove the hour back to my house (not too bad, since i was still awake from 9:30 the previous morning) and crashed on the couch at 6:00. yup, i was awake for over 32 hours. i think that's a new record for me.
unless someone convinces me otherwise, i think i'm gonna just say screw it to the events planned for this week. most of them are shopping trips - fuck that, i can go shopping any other time. i'd much rather go hiking or cruise manhattan with my sister, or even stay in new brunswick and hang out with what friends i do have. this weekend i was thinking of going to the
wildflower preserve instead to catch the spring flowers before they fade away.
edit: i just found out i got a C+ in the class that i was supposed to do the damn paper for. should i finish it & hand it in anyway?
